I believe the best program for CPU performance and memory size for PSK is Digipan.
For contesting I like Mixw because of the way it tracks countries and prefixes in real time. Mixw is also very efficient on memory and CPU usage. This is an excellent program other than a serious memory leak in PSK mode. The new release of MixW due out late this summer or fall will add more modes and clean up a few bugs according to the author. HRD is a very nice program (it has a million lines of source code according to one of the authors) but needs a beefy computer to run on. It locks up and goes into a CPU loop about three times a week for me and sometimes the whole computer needs a reboot. Perhaps my problem is that I need a beefier computer? Multipsk has the most digital modes but is certainly not for the novice. The program is rock solid and never crashes for me. The interface is truly overwhelming for a novice. For RTTY, MMTTY in my view is by far, the best program for this mode. I regularly use both Mixw and HRD. My two cents worth 73, Bernie, VE3FWF. --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, "jon_g4fut" <jon_g4...@...> wrote: > > There is some discussion about the viability of ROS, as it appeasr to take up > the same bandwidth as an SSB signal, thus defeating the reason to use digital. > > --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, KH6TY <kh6ty@> wrote: > > > > > For extreme qrp you should also try out the new mode ros ....
