I'm wondering if there is some issue with Firefox or gmail. Since it was working yesterday and I have not performed an update I'm thinking that they may have made some change to gmail. To second what someone else already said: flush your cache and dump all cookies. Google gets itself confused sometimes and needs a fresh start. This happens to me every few months and the flush cache and delete cookies approach always fixes it. Ian ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@blu.org http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Works for me: firefox-3.6.13-1.fc14.x86_64 Have you restarted firefox lately? Sometimes if you update firefox and don't restart it, it gets quirky. Like it mostly works, but it you try to use a text box it starts acting weird. Not only did I restart it the other day, I rebooted because OpenOffice was flaky. There had been an update affecting Open Office and it would not load until I restarted X. But this is even stranger because gmail was working fine the Friday. I went to make a phone call yesterday and gmail simply would not load. I just restarted Firefox and same symptom. Everything else seems to be working fine in Firefox including iGoogle with its gmail box. I've been removing some of my plugins but at this point, no effect. Interesting that firefox on my Netbook (also 3.6.13 64-bit) works fine also. I'm going to the Galley diner in a few minutes. What I might do is reinstall firefox. -- Jerry Feldman g...@blu.org Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@blu.org http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You can check on Google's understanding of their status at the web page: http://www.google.com/appsstatus For what it is worth they show no problems for any of their services for the last six days. It doesn't matter. I support google apps at work, and google is constantly having little problems that they don't know about. And if you try calling support, they're useless. That doesn't make that web page useless. You just have to treat it as having false negatives. If they say there are having a problem then it probably isn't worth your time to investigate if it is a problem with your setup until they say they aren't having a problem. If they say everything is fine then you have no evidence either way. Even with the best pro-active automated monitoring system the most an OK signal can tell you is that the kinds of problems for which tests have been written aren't occurring. It doesn't register on their radar, if it only affects one person, or only one thing they do, or something like that. Did you look at the URL I sent? It lists the status of 13 Google services independently. From previous experience, I can tell you that they do list problems with services on something more then an all or nothing basis. A free-for-all, but single use web browser--cuts down on cross-site-scripting security holes. My Firefox runs forever with a million tabs, for a my single-use browser I use it for something specific and then quit. ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@blu.org http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
