Are you trying to write in Vietnamese, or in English? the character 
encoding is probably not set correctly.

Carl if the font is not found it should resort to the system default 
font that the suite uses. His issue sounds more like a character 
encoding problem.

Hi Nguyen,

How was LibO installed on this system ? That desktop looks customized,
and is not using default system fonts. Make sure you're using LibO from
the LibreOffice PPA as described here:

Fonts are set in [menu]ToolsOptions...

One reason that fonts become squares is that the default font is not
installed on the computer. It is odd that some menu choices appear
correctly.
