Just thought I'd say that I'm impressed with Tribblix. :)

Cheers,

Ok, will do. :)

Thanks for this information. I hadn't realized that OpenBSD was usable
as a control domain. Very interesting! Please keep us posted about

Re: [discuss] Sparc Hypervisor

2020-07-13 Thread Peter Firmstone

Thanks Fred,

The sparc hypervisor requires a primary / control domain to communicate
with the hypervisor.

OpenBSD has a daemon, a config file and an ldom admin command for
controlling the sparc hypervisor, which makes it a good candidate for
the primary domain.

https://man.openbsd.org/man5/sparc64/ldom.conf.5

I don't know whether Sun released the hypervisor's manager ldm under an
OS license, however I believe the hypervisor itself was released under
GPLv2.

OpenBSD's logical domain admin was developed independently of the Sun
implementation.

Using this it would be possible to provide access for developers to test
on sparc, that is build, boot and test, but it would have to be accessed
via the OpenBSD control domain.

Cheers,

Peter.
