[IxDA Discuss] Text Filters:A-F etc

2010-02-14 Thread Amit Patil
Hey,

Can someone point me to some patterns for Alpha numeric filters for text
lists. Places where if the user clicks on A-F the list is filtered to all
the results starting from A to F.

Thanks,
Amit

Re: [IxDA Discuss] [EVENT REMINDER] IxDA CHICAGO FEB 17th - INTERACTION10 REDUX

2010-02-14 Thread John Alton
Looks like the date for the Feb 17 INTERACTION10 Redux might be from
an old post/mailing? Does the location also need a refresh?

Re: [IxDA Discuss] Flash Rotators

2010-02-14 Thread Yvonnia Martin
Well, first thing's first: this is not flash, its unobtrusive
javascript so that is a huge plus in my book! The pause/play buttons
really do help to give the users control, which is good for UX. From
a business perspective, the headlines allow Yahoo to keep itself
current. And because this is current information, it facilitates
snacking. Jakob Nielsen is all in favor of users coming back to a
site to nibble...It's more in line with human behavior, and because
more and more folks are on DSL etc, the concept of "stickiness" may
no longer be valid.

I give the rotations a thumbs up ;o)

Re: [IxDA Discuss] HCI Masters in the UK - City University vs. University of York

2010-02-14 Thread John Gibbard
I got both my undergrad and postgrad from York. It's an incredible
University, a beautiful city and the Dept. of Psychology and the
Dept. of Computer Science are both world class. I would recommend
them without hesitation.

In fact, I'm delighted to see they're running a pure HCI masters as
mine was in Information Processing which was a little more computer
science than I'd have liked.

Best of luck choosing, please do let me know what you decide.

J.
