Re: [IxDA Discuss] Honoraria for remote usability study participants from multiple countries
We like to offer the standard rate (equivalent to $75), but may increase or decrease depending on the response rate we get. Amazon often does just as well as cash in Western countries, but we've found Indian users eager to take Amazon UK certificates because they wanted to use them buy books they couldn't buy locally. Generally for international incentives, however, we'll either wire money to the participants via Western Union, or if we're recruiting participants through an agency, we'll have the agency handle the honorarium. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Scott, This very same thing has come up on another list I'm on. Here are some thoughts about it: Amounts vary by country. Cash is best, but could be $25 USD in India for the same work and amount of time as someone would get $100 for in the US or 75 pounds for in the UK. Someone suggested using https://www.obopay.com . I haven't done this, myself.
