Re: [IxDA Discuss] Selling Interaction 10 to Management
I wrote a blog post on selling conferences to management. I hope it helps. BTW, I used this method for a conference last year. http://ideakitchn.com/blogs/sean/archive/2010/01/04/so-you-want-to-go-to-a-conference.aspx Cheers, Sean On Mon, Nov 30, 2009 at 12:24 PM, David Shaw david.sh...@gmail.com wrote: Howdy folks... looks like there's a potential light at the end of the tunnel, and my company may pay once again for a conference trip. FWIW, I'm paying for it out of my own pocket and taking vacation days to go. When I get back I'll do a presentation on what I learned and hope it impresses them enough to pay for next year's trip. --jet David Shaw wrote: Thanks everyone for their comments. Re: [IxDA Discuss] Selling Interaction 10 to Management
Thanks Nasir. Good call, I guess that would be important. At least for me, I'm in-house at a medical consumer device/services group. Our UX group is finally getting credibility in what we do, and are pretty integrated across the teams. Here's an initial stab at something. I've tried to provide some introductory context because there are still things people don't get about IxD in our group. Feel free to add/edit/revise/steal. ;-) *I**nteraction10 is the conference hosted by the Interaction Design Association (IxDA). This is the third professional conference put on by the organization (this role/occupation is fairly new in it’s definition). As a side note, I’ve actually been involved in this community since it was just an email list of folks []. We would share similar work methods, problems, and mentor each other. The org has matured significantly to now represent IxD as a professional group in various capacities. I’d really like to continue this involvement. By going, it will keep both myself, and [MY COMPANY], in the spotlight as a leader in this space. It will also increase my connections to like-minded folks. I can’t tell you the number of times I have received and/or shared tips online. Many of these have actually contributed to my daily work. Looking at the program, here are just a few of the (many) sessions I think would be applicable and enhance my day to day work...* TIA, David On Mon, Nov 30, 2009 at 10:24 AM, Nasir Barday na...@userlicious.comwrote: Can you tell us more about what kind of work you do?
