Re: [IxDA Discuss] Welie.com and Design Patterns

2008-08-25 Thread Aduen Darriba
The site has a nice archive about the basic practices of interaction
design and is a good resource for different approaches in navigation.

The most interesting parts are actually his published papers which,
if you are not in the possession of interact, can be found at
about me.

what you thought of it? It appears to be published by a single
individual, but he does seem to have some decent credentials.

Welie's site is one of the best known (and one of the best) UI design
pattern sites. I refer to it regularly. He and Jenifer Tidwell really put
this idea on the map. (I think the Yahoo pattern library helped, too, but it
came after them and, well, I'm biased).

Odd that the search fails within IxDA, because there have been some
recent discussions involving welie.com.

One came up under Pattern Tap,
(http://www.ixda.org/discuss.php?post=31495search=pattern tap)

Another came up under Best Practices VS. Patterns
(http://www.ixda.org/discuss.php?post=30922search=best practices)

Also mentioned in a discussion of Patterns vs. Designs

designs)

hmph. I think the next discussion could be regarding the benefits of
using tinyurl.com over cutting and pasting.

Well, you get the idea.

It's definitly a great resource, his pattrens are categorized nicely
which makes it easy to search through. He is a very reconized
interaction designer in the Netherlands and his blog posts are very good
so I would definitly refer to this resource.
