[OSGeo-Discuss] OSGeo Elections 2008

2008-05-22 Thread jo
dear all,

It's time for OSGeo elections again. I'm Chief Returning Officer this year.

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Election_2008

The OSGeo annual elections come in two phases. Firstly, the election
of new Charter Members to the Foundation. This group is in turn
responsible for electing members to the Board of Directors.

I intend to open nominations for 15 new Charter Members tomorrow,
Friday 23rd May 2008, for a period lasting one week, until the end of
next Thursday, 29th May. Nominations should be in the form of a name,
email address and paragraph on why you are recommending the person,
and sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .

Voting for new Charter Members can then begin next Friday, 30th May.

Please see http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Election_2008 for links to the
details of the process and how it runs. I'll send followup reminders.

cheers,

jo

[OSGeo-Discuss] Project Documentation

2008-05-22 Thread Tyler Mitchell (OSGeo)
Has anyone started compiling a single list of pointers (or done a
survey of sources) for basic OSGeo project documentation? From a
marketing perspective it would be nice to know the state of
documentation for: install/compile, administrators, new users/getting
started, advance customisation, related books, etc. - for each
project. Then we could all be a bit wiser when, myth or not, people
critique FOSS as not having enough useful documentation.

I put together part of a page here, and quickly added a few test urls
to feel out the idea. It may be overkill or it need some tweaking,
but you are more than welcome to add your favourite docs here or hack
this wiki page to make it more useful:
