[slim] Cover Art with multiple artists
I have artwork stored in the same folder as each CD using the naming convention ARTIST - ALBUM.JPG In SlimServer, I have set the Artowrk setting to %ARTIST - ALBUM. This works fine, except for multiple artist albums. In this case my coverart is stored as (Multiple Artist) - ALBUM.JPG. As your artwork is in the same folder as the CD you could save it as cover.jpg and then it should be ok. I think you can have both ARTIST - ALBUM.JPG and cover.jpg working at the same time, so you could just save the compilation albums as cover.jpg. Hope this helps. On your previous setup, you mention USB access point. Does that mean, your SB was connecting to your server via the USB socket (wirlessly), and now your going though your network card? Have you got a software firewall (such as the one built in to XP) running on your server? the previous sb connection was via a buffalo wireless access point (search on buffalo WLI2-USB2-G54) which is attached to pc via a usb. it had is own IP address separate from the LAN card. i have Norton 2003 firewall on the pc (which was on with the other setup) currently i have the router firewall dissabled (if it actually does!) i have tried the norton dissabled also. the SB sees the wireless network straight away it also finds the IP address for the slim server but then at the last step just after it says setup complete it tells you that it's lost connection with teh slim server and i should check it's running? -- brawlski ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Internet radio, a bit of help needed
I haven't used the internet radio for a while (before and erase and install of 10.4) so a bit of help is needed. The setup is mac running 10.4.1, slimserver 6.1b1 - 3574. Netgear dg814 router. sb1 wired. I was using the internet radio using 6.x. on 10.3.9 okay. Tried to listen to some stations today but no music came through the sb or web interface, but I am able to see the station names etc. Normal music plays fine. Are the open ports 9000, 3483, 9090 tcp and udp correct? Tried running with firewall off still no joy. Do I need to do any port forwarding on the router? As I said I haven't used it for a while so I'm probably missing something stupid. OK this shows that the server can talk to the player, so the wireless link is working OK. Could you tell us what the IP address of the player is and what the output of netstat is? [slim] Popping sound
My SB2 has been working fine, feeding into my TacT RCS2.0s. Just about 20 mins ago, problem begins. Nothing has changed. Cables are the same, WiFi Connection is the same. Sound coming out has a slight 'pop' to it every 10 secs or so, and the loudness seems to fluctuate as well. I have rebooted all related components, router, computer (slimserver), SB2 and TacT. Same problem. It seems like all of a sudden, my TacT is having problem locking onto the signal. Cable is an Audio Note Sogon between the SB2 and TacT. It does sound like an s/pdif problem. To help narrow it down I'd suggest checking that the analog outs and optical outs are working okay. Maybe also try an alternate cable. I used a high grade Burr-Brown DAC with native SACD support linked to a good external ADC firewire adapter and tried to sample at the same rate as the original or at 24b 48khz (tested to be the most accurate setting of the ADC I used). Anybody else notice that Internet Radio streams (whether via SlimServer or SqueezeNetwork), are significantly LOUDER than audio file playback? Internet Radio streams are about 15 dB louder than playback of my FLAC music files. I am currently using Digital S/PDIF out, with the fixed (max) volume setting. I do not use ReplayGain or anything like that with the FLAC playback. After reading some of the threads about Unicode improvements I was yesterday enticed to make the jump from 6.0.2 to 6.1b1. However I promptly returned back to 6.0.2, because all of the songs which contained accented characters suddenly disappeared from the Squeezebox2 (although the songs were still appearing with all accented characters in the Web interface on my Mac OS X 10.3.8 computer). In 6.0.2 the songs do appear on the Squeezebox2, but with question marks in place of the accented characters. When will the display font on the Squeezebox2 expected to be Unicode (utf-8) compatible? Can anyone confirm if this is actually the case? Compression makes sense for FM, where people usually listen in noisy environments on crappy stereos (car, workplace etc) - it would be a real shame if any internet stations are doing it! I've been listening primarily to Radioio feeds. Hadn't thought to check if other internet radio streams are just as loud. Turns out, many are, but some aren't. I guess it depends on the individual feeds. I tried copying the (Multiple Arist) - ALBUM.JPG to album.jpg and that works fine with both JPG's in the same directory. Once SlimServer can handle the former, I'll just delete all the album.jpg files. I'm using SlimServer Version: 6.0.2 - 3085. Playback in SqueezeBox v1, v2 and SoftSqueeze stops a couple of minutes into the the first song.
