[slim] Cover Art with multiple artists

2005-06-28 Thread NickM

I have artwork stored in the same folder as each CD using the naming
convention ARTIST - ALBUM.JPG
In SlimServer, I have set the Artowrk setting to %ARTIST - ALBUM. This
works fine, except for multiple artist albums. In this case my coverart
is stored as (Multiple Artist) - ALBUM.JPG.
How can I get SlimSerer to pick up this artwork correctly?

you can't at this time. There is an feature enhancement filed already to enable
tagging of multi-artist albums with a albumartist tag that you could eventually
use. of course, this variable artwork feature is currently broken in the
latest releases at the moment at well (6.0+)

As your artwork is in the same folder as the CD you could save it as
cover.jpg and then it should be ok. I think you can have both ARTIST
- ALBUM.JPG and cover.jpg working at the same time, so you could just
save the compilation albums as cover.jpg.

Hope this helps.

On your previous setup, you mention USB access point. Does that mean,
your SB was connecting to your server via the USB socket (wirlessly),
and now your going though your network card?

Have you got a software firewall (such as the one built in to XP)
running on your server? Try switching it off (you don't really need it
anyway, if you have a WRT54G).

the previous sb connection was via a buffalo wireless access point
(search on buffalo WLI2-USB2-G54) which is attached to pc via a usb. it
had is own IP address separate from the LAN card. i have Norton 2003
firewall on the pc (which was on with the other setup) currently i have
the router firewall dissabled (if it actually does!)

i have tried the norton dissabled also. the SB sees the wireless
network straight away it also finds the IP address for the slim server
but then at the last step just after it says setup complete it tells
you that it's lost connection with teh slim server and i should check
it's running?

[slim] Internet radio, a bit of help needed

2005-06-28 Thread Steven Moore
I haven't used the internet radio for a while (before and erase and
install of 10.4) so a bit of help is needed.
The setup is mac running 10.4.1, slimserver 6.1b1 - 3574. Netgear
dg814 router. sb1 wired.

I was using the internet radio using 6.x. on 10.3.9 okay.
Tried to listen to some stations today but no music came through the
sb or web interface, but I am able to see the station names etc.

Normal music plays fine.
Are the open ports 9000, 3483, 9090 tcp and udp correct?
Tried running with firewall off still no joy.
Do I need to do any port forwarding on the router?

As I said I haven't used it for a while so I'm probably missing
something stupid.

Alas yes I've not heard of any direct method yet for reading SACD/DVDA
data (SACD is also not native PCM so would require convertion).

I used a high grade Burr-Brown DAC with native SACD support linked to a
good external ADC firewire adapter and tried to sample at the same rate
as the original or at 24b 48khz (tested to be the most accurate setting
of the ADC I used).

Still haven't got 16b 44Khz FLAC to play ok on the SB2, even with 6.1
and 13 firmware, but I'm still awaiting my new router before I sort out
a proper bug report.

[slim] Internet Radio streams vastly louder

Anybody else notice that Internet Radio streams (whether via SlimServer

Internet Radio streams are about 15 dB louder than playback of my FLAC

It's rather annoying to hafta adjust my Pre-amp volume when I switch

[slim] SlimServer 6.1b1, Accented Characters and Display Font

2005-06-28 Thread agross

After reading some of the threads about Unicode improvements I was
yesterday enticed to make the jump from 6.0.2 to 6.1b1. However I
promptly returned back to 6.0.2, because all of the songs which
contained accented characters suddenly disappeared from the Squeezebox2
(although the songs were still appearing with all accented characters in
the Web interface on my Mac OS X 10.3.8 computer). In 6.0.2 the songs do
appear on the Squeezebox2, but with question marks in place of the
accented characters.

When will the display font on the Squeezebox2 expected to be Unicode

Highlights of the SlimServer 6.1b1 release include:

...

   * Many more improvements and bug fixes.

I thought http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1478 was
targeted for a 6.1 fix. Am I to assume that this broken feature
won't be restored any time soon and I should just upgrade my
remotes? :-(

This is not the actual stream, but will return a playlist. If you open it
in a text editor you'll find (amongst others) the following lines:

ref href = mms://archives.warpradio.com/gatewayads/bumper/standby.mp3/
/entry

entry
ref href = mms://64.92.199.76/WEZV-FM/
ref href = http://64.92.199.76/WEZV-FM/

On of these urls is the stream. Give them a try.
