[slim] Still seeing incorrect tags, even after wipe cache

2005-09-30 Thread Dan Goodinson
I've got at least 1 tag that seems to be 'stuck' the SS cache.

Slimserver can see a track by Primitives and also a track by
Primitives, The. I want to get rid of the one by Primitives. Using
the web panel, I've checked the file location for the one that says
Primitives. It's on a CD called Crash! Indie Anthems. When I try
to drill down into the actual track, SS tells me that there is 1 track
by 1 artist but doesn't display anything (which is what I'd expect
because the track isn't there any more ;-)

The track isn't there because I've _already_ corrected the tag (both
ID3v1 and ID3v2) but SS is still picking up the incorrect Primitives
tag from somewhere.

I do a nightly scan of the library, but I've tried numerous wipe
cache. But this tag is still showing up.

How can I clean this tag? Is there a way to delete the entire library
from SS and then run a new scan to get a fresh library?

Running SB1 on SS 6.1.

RE: [slim] Still seeing incorrect tags, even after wipe cache

2005-09-30 Thread Dan Goodinson
Incidentally, if I try to play the phantom track, SS service crashes :)

e.g.
1. Do a live search for Primitives to find the correct tags and the
dodgy one.
2. Click Play for this (incorrect) artist tag.
3. Web panel starts displaying Page cannot be displayed all over the
place.
4. SS service has stopped.

Not too concerned, as the track doesn't exist - I'm not expecting SS to
magically play it somehow ;) Thought it might be worth raising though,
in case the slimdevices team want to add some sort of error (e.g. Error:
track not found) rather than crashing out the service.

As an aside, the track by The Primitives that is causing me all the
problems is called Crash :) :)

Sounds like it might be picking up the file name from a playlist file,
i.e. .m3u or .cue in the music directory somewhere.

For cramped spaces, I have been happy with: Paradigm Cinema 90 speakers
and a Parasound zone amp (zamp - about the size of a paperback book).
The nice thing about the zamp is that it has adjustable attenuators on
the RCA inputs - very useful in taming the hot output of the SB2. The
zamp v3 is a bit pricy, I went for a used, slightly older model at a
very significant discount. Warning: YMMV - I am partial to Paradigm +

What OS is SlimServer running on? If it's Linux or Unix these might not
work--both have to be transcoded in 6.1.1 with that player firmware, and
you probably don't have the executables you need (you may be able to get
ffmpeg or mplayer to do the conversion, though, and there's stuff here
about that.)

If you download a 6.2 nightly (or soon, a beta) it will upgrade your
firmware to version 22, which plays WMA streams natively. I tested the
asx file above and it works fine, my SlimServer is on linux-ppc.

Neither of those works for me. The first URL just gives me the message
Connecting to play: on the box, and it never kicks in; instead, the
server crashes. The second URL gives me WMA convert error.

 I'm running SB2, Slimserver 6.1.1, firmware 15.

 Any other help is appreciated.

 thanks,
 Mike

[slim] Re: Moose 0.05

2005-09-30 Thread greedy_grendel

Hi,

I downloaded the latest version from the link, but can't seem to play
any songs.

Moose scans my music collection on a separate server okay but doesn't
actually play any of the tracks.

I have tried to log into Slimserver with both the CLI and Web UI, but
no result. Moose keeps saying that An operation was attepmted on
something that isn't a socket.

Is there some glaring mistake I'm making? Any help would be
appreciated.

Music in WMA Lossless, Windows XP Pro, Slimserver 6.1.1 running over
LAN.

Cheers,
-M

[slim] Idea for playlists

2005-09-30 Thread MeSue

I think we can all agree that building and editing playlists in
SlimServer's WebUI is not ideal. Just about any player program handles
this much better. It would be cool if someone could create a simple
drop target program. The idea would be to have a small widget on the
desktop which you could drag drop tracks and/or playlists on to to
pass them to slimserver. Maybe it could also provide an option to
append or replace an existing playlist.

Currently I do something like this using MMM as the middleman for
passing playlists to SS, but it would nice to have something that is
supported by SD and (if possible) faster.

Something like this would allow people to use any program they like for
playlist management and still have some kind of SlimServer integration.
Any takers?
