When all of the FLAC directories were stored locally on the XP box everything was working like a champ. However, I recently moved the entire directory structure, without any changes off to a NAS. That should work. It's exactly the way I have my music stored. Now when I scan the flac files via \\NAS_NAME\media\Music, the gallery view artwork has stopped working. Are you sure the library scan has completed when you try to use the gallery view? The scanning process happens in several passes, and one of the last passes is the one that catalogs artwork. If I go to sort by album, gallery view I only see blank image placeholders. If I drill into an album, the artwork shows up perfectly. So it seems as if the art is being found? One of the strange little idiosyncracies of SlimServer, which has to be explained here at least once a week, is that the cover thumbnails are generated from the covers that SlimServer finds during a library scan and stores in its database. When you get to the album view, however, SlimServer ignores the data it has stored and looks for the cover artwork in the file system instead. So it looks like the covers are OK, and that SlimServer can find them when it really needs to, but for some reason the scanning process may not be seeing them. Interestingly, when I run Moose the album art also does not appear in this configuration. When I ran Moose prior to moving the files it all worked as well. Moose probably just uses SlimServer's database to find the covers, so if SlimServer doesn't catalog a cover, Moose won't have it either. I've looked in the FAQ and wiki to no avail. Any thoughts? Are you running SlimServer 6.5.x? If so, one thing to try is completely clearing the Cache folder. Crossfading requires that both tracks be decompressed so that they can be mixed. Yeah, this has been noted since before the acquisition (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28813). [slim] Re: Squeezbox on Offer at Scan
Hi all, First post, just wanted to say this time yesterday I'd never heard of the squeezebox ( living on mars :) ), now I've just got back from Scan with a white(would have preferred black but they didn't have any) squeezebox and I absolutely love it. For the last few weeks I've been looking for something for the living room that'd let me access all my music and I was about to settle for an iPod with Apple Hi-Fi. Thankgod I found this first. It's a superb product. Lookinng forward to reading these forums to get the most out of it too. Had to get that off my chest :) cheers Steve -- Axegrinder Axegrinder's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8208 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29096 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Still Trying to Get 6.5.1 to work
I finally figured out the various artists issue. Thanks everyone for your help. Now, I have another strange problem. If I scan my library with the playlist folder populated with playlists, I lose over 800 artists. The playlists are there, all albums show up, and even all the songs, but the artists list is very wrong. As long as I don't add in my playlists (created using a 6.x version of SlimServer), I am good, but as soon as I add the playlists back, my database gets funky. -- broth420 broth420's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1676 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29133 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Music Folder Problems
I also posted in the 3rd party forum, but since the server is running on XP, this might be the better location. I am running slimserver 6.5.0 on Win XP Pro SP2. I have an infrant ReadyNAS NV connected via the network and mapped as a drive (Z:) on the XP box. All the flac files are stored on the ReadyNAS, however I am running the server on the XP box. In the slimserver, under slimserver setting in the set music folder. I am entering the drive as z:\music. However the server keeps telling me the z: drive does not exist. This is odd since I can go to a command prompt in windows and enter 'cd z:' and see the NAS directory. Can the slimserver not use mapped drives? How do I configure the music folder to find the NAS? Thanks for your help. All is quiet here until I can sort this out. : ) Wes G. -- wesg wesg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7298 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29135 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: MusicMagic: Error Sending Playlist to Player
I have had this problem also with MIP 1.7 and SS 6.5b3 using the full MIP library as a source for mixes. Sometimes one track would make it to the SS playlist, sometimes the whole list, and sometimes some other amount. Always after a partial list is sent, MIP has to be restarted to reestablish communication with SS. So,... I tried this - created a few filters so that lists could be built only from tracks from the MIP library that were also in the SS library. Those lists transfer successfully. It seems that when tranferring a list that contains tracks not in the SS library, they have to be added before the list continues processing. I think that may cause the error. At any rate, I have sent a dozen 30-track MIP lists in a row built of tracks known to be in the SS database without errors. I have tried building SS libraries of my complete collection but it bogs down the server. So, I have some files for MIP lists and the others I am content to choose through the Music Folder. I hope this helps. -- downtime downtime's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3463 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19966 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Use the network (UNC) path (the one that starts with \\), look in network neighbourhood. It is possible that you may need to run SlimServer service under an account that has network privileges too. The default install under local system account does not. MC -- ModelCitizen Now what? Transporter Naim NAP 250 PMC OB1s.
