Re: [slim] 181.fm / The Eagle Classic Rock
Looks like 181 or RadioTime have messed up the menu links to the correct The Eagle station. Playing this station from SBS or MySB menu's it plays a New Age type station. You can try these alternative links to 181.fm The Eagle, cut paste into Internet Radio Tune in URL Play If it works just save it to a Favorite (but be prepared for such a third party cut paste URL to eventually stop working). http://uplink.duplexfx.com:8030/ http://216.155.137.149:1 -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79872 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] File Type settings in Slimserver 6.4
I am using an older thinkpad as a dedicated server with 6.4, hardwired cat 5 to one of my SB3's. The majority of my files are FLAC with a few mp3 and WAV sprinkled in for good measure. Almost all are 16/44 though I do have some needeldropped 24/96 material. I am wondering what file type settings is best for sound quality. I have attached a screen capture of my current settings. Re: [slim] File Type settings in Slimserver 6.4
6.4! Your 24/96 material will be being converted to MP3 for playback (from memory - it's a long time ago...) either that or it will be being decimated by dropping alternate samples down to 24/48... Any reason not to upgrade? (to 7.5.1) On recent (7.5) the default file settings are best for sound quality and network usage... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal... Re: [slim] File Type settings in Slimserver 6.4
Hi, Phil. I have tried 7.4.1 but it was sluggish with my thinkpad so I went back to 6.4.1 Does 7.x offer any improved sonics compared to 6.4? Sonics...yes on hi-rez (24/48) as explained - 7.5 is better than 6.x The file settings you have send FLAC from PC to SB as FLAC and then convert to PCM on the SB. There is nothing wrong with this and is in fact the best way to optimise performance and network bandwidth. In case you want to run on another machine, turn off SB Server and connect to mysqueezebox.com instead and define the Spotify favourite there instead, as has been described in this thread before. My definition as an example: http://192.168.1.4:8124/#slim:noscan=1 /Erik Hello Just to say that I did get it working. Not really sure how as the rule I put in the router firewall shouldn't have had any difference. Anyway, it works great - but also, it works if I am using SBS from my readyNas and streaming Spotify from my PC. Two problems I have had (when connected to the ReadyNas SBS) are that my SB Boom doesn't have a Tune to URL menu option so I have to do it from the PC and also I can't find a way of saving the stream address to Favourites. Re: [slim] Crossfade doesn't work
Phil, thanks, that's done the job. Re: [slim] Internet Radio Option Gone From Menu...
Thanks...bssed on your reply, I realized that I had changed the setting in the Status tab in the Squeezebox Control Panel from Automatically Run at Log In to Automatically Run at Start Up...likely the Squeezebox Server was starting up BEFORE the Internet was connected. Once I switched it back to starting up at log in (in other words, later), it worked fine. Re: [slim] Crossfade doesn't work
Just to be clear, SBS does not insert gaps between tracks. In fact it supports gapless playback if the rips are correct. Granted, sometimes the fade-outs on some tracks can be so quiet that it sounds like a gap, so maybe that's what you're hearing. Or not hearing, as the case may be. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79841 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
