Re: [slim] Airport crypto cracked

2011-04-13 Thread mflint

I had a play last night to try to get a proof-of-concept running.

I made a small hack to hairplay so libao sends it's output to a
file on disk - this works fine, and the docs suggest that the magic
filename - means STDOUT. But if I make that change, hairplay crashes
as soon as it tries to write any data to the output.

I'll attach gdb to it tonight - hope that'll tell me what I'm doing
wrong with libao. I'm not even sure whether libao will be necessary
at all..?

How about changing the order of the playlist? is it something you had

Search will be fixed on 1.0.4 today.
Regarding playlist management - I prefer to get some more feedback from
the community before changing it. However ordering the playlist
dynamically is on the roadmap.

Unfortunately it will not work on such a small display and I fail to

Even if I put the effort on supporting such a small display I find it

What would you consider basic controls?
I thought at some stage to have some additional partial widgets as part

has play/pause/power/fwd/rwd). This way people can position them in a

I would appreciate if you can take a look on the 1x4 and suggest a

Since it's only the first file in each album, perhaps the file contains

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2011-04-13 Thread ajwillys

Hi,
I'm using the app with my Incredible and trying to use it on my wife's
rooted (but stock OS) nook color. With the incredible, everything
works fine and connects and its all good. On the nook, the app loads
but it always says it couldn't find any players. When I set my radio's
to go to mysqueezebox.com, it works fine... but I don't ever use that.
Because everything works fine for the incredible, I don't think its the
server or the network.

To debug this, I set up a packet capture on my router (DD-WRT) and I
can clearly see that when I open the app in my incredible, the phone
connects to my server over TCP 9000. When I open it with my nook, I
don't see the nook attempt to connect at all. When I think about this,
I have to wonder how the incredible decided what ip address to connect
to. I'm assuming the app starts by listening on udp 3483 for the
broadcast packets, but those aren't happening very often. I'm thinking
that maybe the nook isn't hearing those broadcast packets but I haven't
found anything about that.

Does anyone have any idea how I would debug this? I'm certainly no
stranger to debugging networking problems and would love to get my
hands dirty on this one.

problem is something specific to nook color. As an aside, any thought
given to being added to the nook color store that is coming soon?

It's working like this (at least for SqueezeCommander):
The Android devices sends a UDP broadcast to port 3483 (=the server
discovery).
The server answers with a UDP unicast packet.
This answer includes the SBS name, the IP and the port.

This is driving me nuts. I have taken probably 2,000+ packet captures
in my career and I cannot find any UDP broadcast packets from the
device on any capture I take. I do see broadcast packets from the
server. I've taken them on the desktop server, in the router, and on
the android device. In each case, the only thing I see from the device
is it connecting directly over port 9000.

I do have my router set up to filter multicast from the WAN, but I
wouldn't think that would affect the WLAN. I'm not sure how it would
work with my phone if that was the case. Also, I enabled logging on my
router and did not see a dropped packet for 3483.

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

If you just want to make a SqueezeBox Remote App work, this should be
easily solvable.

The UDP broadcasts are only need for Automatic Server Discovery, so
just specify a Server manually in the App and you should be good to
go.

But some other stuff (e.g. configuring a SB Receiver using an Android
App) will probably not work.

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2011-04-13 Thread ajwillys

Ah ha, I figured it out. The app only looks for the location of the
server the first time it ever starts. I cleared the cache, still
didn't issue the udp broadcast. Then I went in and cleared the cache
and the 'data' that the app was storing. After that I restarted the
app. It went through the Accept the terms, then had me enter the
user/pass. After that, it did send the UDP broadcast and the server
responded with a UDP unicast.

This tells me that its storing the IP of the server in its data
somewhere. I'm not sure what it would do if the server had moved,
maybe check again, maybe fail. Luckily, I'm using a static IP for my
desktop so it doesn't move.

In either case, I'm not sure this solves the problem with the nook
because I've tried reinstalling it a few times, which I assume removes
the application data as well.

Also, I don't think I can hardcode the IP of the server using the
official app. Is that something that can be done with
SqueezeCommander?

Sure, you can add Additional Servers in SqueezeCommander that will be
used if no server can be discovered automatically.
This is also useful for remote servers (i.e. if you want to access your

It's home screen orientation is indeed portrait but as soon as you want
to use the keyboard (it has a slider keyboard, sideways).

Oh, and probably the biggest difference: I was wrong about the
 resolution, it's only 240x320!

Here's an update after finishing 1.0.4 with support for landscape
layouts:

I won't block lower resolutions. Android Market does it for free :).
All my Squidgets are sized 4 x Something. 240x320 support a maximum of
3 x Something widgets, so the market won't let you buy it until
Squidget support at least one smaller widget (I'm on it btw).

Weird. I have an applet/widget called elixir, which can be up to 4x4
and my x10 mini can show it. Though its pretty small.

Not the most interesting reading material but here -
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html
Google describes how to build the widget for different sizes. When built
according to these guidelines and running the emulator on the resolution
Pippin provided the edges of the widgets are cut, and it looks plain
ugly.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squidget - A SqueezeBox Widget for Android

2011-04-13 Thread ganjastone

Hi dear people,

Yet another update.
This one packs support for Landscape layouts for all the widgets. It
also fixed activities like open player, search, playlist etc opening
only in portrait. All these are now auto rotating (and scrollable).
This means you can use it on Tablets properly and on home launchers
like LauncherPro that enables auto rotate of home screens. The
landscape layout are not as polished as the portraits so if you have
suggestions to improve them just shoot.

In addition a dear forum member requested that search music will allow
adding search result after the currently playing song. Well, it's in
1.0.4 as well.

Enjoy it.

Just bought and installed this. This is a very nice widget - perfect for
quick control of your Squeezeboxen.

One thing I did notice is when going into Favorites, and then choosing
the On MySqueezebox.com option, it seems to just start playing one of
your sb.com favorites, rather than presenting a menu to make a choice
from the options there.

Other than that, working very well on Motorola Atrix 4G. :)

Re: [slim] Airport crypto cracked

2011-04-13 Thread mflint

I've been playing some more...

The writing to stdout issue was my fault, not libao... but we won't
need libao anyway.

I'm now writing raw audio out to a named pipe (which I'm manually
converting to wav using sox). I reckon it'd be possible to automate
the conversion (either to wav, flac or mp3) using the
custom-types.conf file in a similar way to Wave Input.

I'll stick the code on github if I get a proof-of-concept working.

You're right about there being clicks in the audio - disappointing :-(

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squidget - A SqueezeBox Widget for Android

2011-04-13 Thread arris

Looks nice on my Vibrant. It seems to have some issues though, on
Pandora it doesn't display any artwork and misses song changes. I have
to press pause and then play again for it to pick up the new song
information. It also frequently misses song changes when I play back
local music files from a playlist and I change songs using a different
remote or the web interface.
It would be nice if it was possible to switch the time display to
remaining time (by tapping it maybe?). Also, is there a way to pick the
player that is controlled by the widget?
