Re: [slim] queezebox Classic v3 audio volume problems.

2011-05-05 Thread servies

@Soulkeeper:
again: how does this influence the volumeknob on the server.
Changing the volume functions correctly up to 10 o'clock and then
nothing.
In the thread you mention, the person only hears something very faint
when the volumeknob is at its max...

Re: [slim] queezebox Classic v3 audio volume problems.

2011-05-05 Thread Soulkeeper

The volume knob on the amp you mean? Well, if it does function
relatively linearly up to a certain level, increasing the volume on the
signal being fed to amp's inputs would at least make it behave more like
it does with his other units.

Re: [slim] Automatically Powering Down a Dumb Amplifier

2011-05-05 Thread oktup

Just to confirm that the 'intelligent power strip' solution doesn't work
- tried that myself with no luck.

I also tried an X10 setup but it only worked properly about 80% of the
time, so was sufficiently annoying and clunky that I eventually
abandoned it.

Ended up doing the same thing you're suggesting - got a Boom for the
bedroom, and put the SB3 in the kitchen, connected to a Tivoli Model
One Piano Black FM radio (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00407IW2W/ ) which has a line-in.
Brilliant audio quality and matches the SB3 perfectly in looks and
dimensions (SB3 sits on top). Have to physically turn on the Tivoli
whenever I want to listen to the Squeezebox, but this has proven to be
absolutely not an issue (and I'm quite lazy ;) )

I'd suggest just trying it that way first, and then worry about the
auto amp-switching later, if you find it really bothers you. Although I
suppose that only makes sense if your amp is going to be easily
accessible..?

I use an SB3 in the bedroom (oh err missus), and for exactly your power
saving reasons I paired it up with a Mini-T (Class T amp), which takes
next to no power when not being driven, I just leave it on all the

Previously I was using an old guzzling analogue Audiolab 8000S, which

[slim] General Problems Connecting

2011-05-05 Thread noguru

As of this morning I suddenly can't get a connection on any part of my
system, although test with a laptop shows network is working fine with
excellent signal strength. Boom was paused and then stuck on that
track. Switched off and on again, now sticks at Obtaining IP address.
Controller goes back to displaying playlist as when Boom stopped.
Attempting any other action results in Controller attempting to connect
to home network and after some time reports problem connecting. I also
have receiver on which display is white ie connected but it is not
appearing in list of players.

Totally stumped any suggestions greatly received.

[slim] Archos Tablets for SqueezeCommander

2011-05-05 Thread GRC

OK - so I've searched but sometimes there's just too much detail to wade
through so I'll risk the flames and post a simple question.

I'm after a cheap (second-hand) tablet to control my SqueezeNet (see
sig) since my Controller screen is dying. Preferred screen size 5-7.
There was an Archos 5 8GB that just went for £60 sterling on eBay UK -
this is the sort of money I'd hoped to spend but I can stretch a bit
more. Looked at O2 Joggler but want battery for portability - over here
in Portugal we spend a lot of time outside. I gather I need an Archos
internet tablet rather than a home tablet to get a capacitive
screen; apart from that I just don't know. Other brand suggestions
welcome, but I want a simple install and minimal faffing around.

Question : anything special I need to know about Android models / OS
levels; memory requirements; etc. etc. ? Do the reviews that say
sluggish matter when I'm just running SqueezeCommander? I'm fairly
tech-savvy but just not up on tablets / Android / whatever anymore (I'm
a child of the 60s and grew up with mainframes mini-computers -
Windows 7 64-bit takes up enough of my time ...). My daughter's iPod /
/iPad / iPhone / iLife are cool but just too much money for us humble
pensioners. iPod Classic is as far as I got :-)

Simpler Version : which cheap tablet to buy for a simple controller?

Thanks / Obrigado / Merci / etc.

[slim] SqueezeSlave Audio Output Problem

2011-05-05 Thread Knightro

Hello,

I am having a problem with selecting audio devices with squeezeslave.
It's not a squeezeslave problem but more of a Windows 7 HDMI audio
connection problem.

My HDMI connection is plugged into an Onkyo receiver. When the receiver
is on the HDMI audio shows up in Windows 7 playback devices, when it is
turned off it disappears. This changes the audio configuration that
SqueezeSlave looks at when you do the -L command.

Receiver Off:
squeezeslave-1.0-227.exe -L
Output devices:
* 4: (Windows DirectSound) Primary Sound Driver (0/0)
5: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (C-Media USB Headphone Set )
(0/0)
6: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
(0/0)
7: (Windows DirectSound) Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High
Definition Audio) (0/0)

Receiver On:
squeezeslave-1.0-227.exe -L
Output devices:
* 4: (Windows DirectSound) Primary Sound Driver (0/0)
5: (Windows DirectSound) TX-NR807 (Intel(R) Display Audio) (0/0)
6: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (C-Media USB Headphone Set )
(0/0)
7: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
(0/0)
8: (Windows DirectSound) Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High
Definition Audio) (0/0)

The HDMI audio needs to be set as the primary audio for running the
HTPC output to the receiver.

Is there a way to associate the output device to a name instead of ID#
or is it possible to lock the ID# once it's activated? It currently
changes even when there is an active session.

squeezeslave-1.0-227.exe -D -o6 -m00:00:00:00:00:01

Thanks,
-KT

The Archos internet tablets are more tweaky than a typical i-whatever
device but they do work well, look good and are cheap. IMO a good fit
for the Squeezebox because it too needs tweaking to get the most out of
it :)

I'm using SqueezeCommander on an Archos 101T and it definitely is NOT
sluggish. Flatterman has planned a tablet-specific version of SC soon
and that should make better use of the larger screens.

Hi Guy48065

I definitely don't want my app to be restricted to phone users.
The developer account only shows three restrictions: 'WiFi',
'TouchScreen' and 'ARM-processor'.
Futhermore Android 2.1 is a minimum requirement.

So I wouldn't know why the App does not show on Android market for
you.
What are your device specifications?
Can you tell me some other Apps that you are able to download (I might
sneek into their definitions, so free Apps preferred) ?

Other then that the only thing is maybe contacting Google support (but
I'd need your device details for that).

Hi dementik,
what is the use-case for that? Isn't removing headphone intentional? I
guess I would be pretty confused if music then just stopped (and would
think this is an App error).

Re: [slim] Squeezepad

2011-05-05 Thread bluegaspode

Hi Hayder,

any progress?
Does it work again?

Forgot to mention: if you didn't upgrade SqueezePad to version 1.7.4
you might get connection problems against the 7.5.4 server (Logitech
changed some inner workings compared to 7.5.3, so I had to change some
lines as well).

[slim] Empty Playlists

2011-05-05 Thread spooley

I recently migrated all my FLAC and MP3 to a Vortexbox Appliance. In
order to retain my playlists, I used listfix to re-establish the
mapping for all songs in the playlists.

My problem is that my SB Classics can see my playlists, but they all
appear to be empty. If I go back to listfix it shows all the songs and
the drive mapping for each.

Any thoughts on my problem would be appreciated.

PS Vortexbox is outstanding - easy to install and performance is great.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.0 released

2011-05-05 Thread sweiss

I've built two OSS static binaries for you to try.

 1. squeezeslave-oss-static-lnx26-mipsel-1.0-251 - Same build options as
the 1.0-225 just the latest code.

 2. squeezeslave-oss-static-padev-lnx26-mipsel-1.0-251 - Latest code but
uses the newer portaudio library but is only OSS no alsa support.

Let me know if either works for you.

 'squeezeslave-1.0-251-mipsel-lnx26.tar.gz'

The portaudio version did not detect any output devices however, the
squeezeslave-oss-static-lnx26-mipsel-1.0-251 works great! It does not
crash and was much better at switching streams without the digital
buzz.

Also, I found that using an option of -p 5000 eliminated all of the
digital noise I heard when I switched radio stations.

I need to figure out how to make SqueezeSlave boot when the system
loads and make that script wait until the output devices have been
initialized. However, if you want copies of the em8xxxoss.ko and
soundcore.ko binaries for the Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD (with Kernel
2.6.22.19-29-sigma), please let me know how to get them to you.

Thanks for your help!
Steve
