The volume knob on the amp you mean? Well, if it does function relatively linearly up to a certain level, increasing the volume on the signal being fed to amp's inputs would at least make it behave more like it does with his other units. -- Soulkeeper -that is not dead which can eternal lie. and with strange aeons even death may die.- touch + duet + boom + radio / wrt160n/dd-wrt / sbs 7.5.1 or higher/win7(32b)/avira free Soulkeeper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35297 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87428 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Automatically Powering Down a Dumb Amplifier
Just to confirm that the 'intelligent power strip' solution doesn't work - tried that myself with no luck. I also tried an X10 setup but it only worked properly about 80% of the time, so was sufficiently annoying and clunky that I eventually abandoned it. Ended up doing the same thing you're suggesting - got a Boom for the bedroom, and put the SB3 in the kitchen, connected to a Tivoli Model One Piano Black FM radio ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00407IW2W/ ) which has a line-in. Brilliant audio quality and matches the SB3 perfectly in looks and dimensions (SB3 sits on top). Have to physically turn on the Tivoli whenever I want to listen to the Squeezebox, but this has proven to be absolutely not an issue (and I'm quite lazy ;) ) I'd suggest just trying it that way first, and then worry about the auto amp-switching later, if you find it really bothers you. As of this morning I suddenly can't get a connection on any part of my system, although test with a laptop shows network is working fine with excellent signal strength. Boom was paused and then stuck on that track. Switched off and on again, now sticks at Obtaining IP address. Controller goes back to displaying playlist as when Boom stopped. Attempting any other action results in Controller attempting to connect to home network and after some time reports problem connecting. [slim] Archos Tablets for SqueezeCommander
OK - so I've searched but sometimes there's just too much detail to wade through so I'll risk the flames and post a simple question. I'm after a cheap (second-hand) tablet to control my SqueezeNet (see sig) since my Controller screen is dying. Preferred screen size 5-7. There was an Archos 5 8GB that just went for £60 sterling on eBay UK - this is the sort of money I'd hoped to spend but I can stretch a bit more. Looked at O2 Joggler but want battery for portability - over here in Portugal we spend a lot of time outside. I gather I need an Archos internet tablet rather than a home tablet to get a capacitive screen; apart from that I just don't know. Other brand suggestions welcome, but I want a simple install and minimal faffing around. Question : anything special I need to know about Android models / OS levels; memory requirements; etc. etc. ? Do the reviews that say sluggish matter when I'm just running SqueezeCommander? I'm fairly tech-savvy but just not up on tablets / Android / whatever anymore (I'm a child of the 60s and grew up with mainframes mini-computers - Windows 7 64-bit takes up enough of my time ...). [slim] SqueezeSlave Audio Output Problem
Hello, I am having a problem with selecting audio devices with squeezeslave. It's not a squeezeslave problem but more of a Windows 7 HDMI audio connection problem. My HDMI connection is plugged into an Onkyo receiver. When the receiver is on the HDMI audio shows up in Windows 7 playback devices, when it is turned off it disappears. This changes the audio configuration that SqueezeSlave looks at when you do the -L command. Receiver Off: squeezeslave-1.0-227.exe -L Output devices: * 4: (Windows DirectSound) Primary Sound Driver (0/0) 5: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (C-Media USB Headphone Set ) (0/0) 6: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (0/0) 7: (Windows DirectSound) Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) (0/0) Receiver On: squeezeslave-1.0-227.exe -L Output devices: * 4: (Windows DirectSound) Primary Sound Driver (0/0) 5: (Windows DirectSound) TX-NR807 (Intel(R) Display Audio) (0/0) 6: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (C-Media USB Headphone Set ) (0/0) 7: (Windows DirectSound) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (0/0) 8: (Windows DirectSound) Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) (0/0) The HDMI audio needs to be set as the primary audio for running the HTPC output to the receiver. Is there a way to associate the output device to a name instead of ID# or is it possible to lock the ID# once it's activated?
