Napster shortlist. But I don't see a way to delete them: not in the
SBS web ui, or the SB Controller, or the Napster site itself.

From what I can tell it's not available through their API yet. It took
them a while to implement the Add to library call...

Might have described it wrong, it could just be the sql playlists.
Before MusicIP I used sql playlists with I thought used custom skip?
Anyway what I ran has stopped working with SQL errors. It used to Skip
1 star 100%, 2 star 75%, 3 star 50%, 4 star 25% but would also play the
odd unrated in there with a 25% skip?

You mentioned on another thread that this was something that doesn't
work with the new version on SQL in 7.6.1?

One other question for the MusicIP Guru's, what is the difference
between saying a song is mixable and the fact it is taking 3 days to
analyse all my tracks? Does MusicIP already know about all the tracks
for it to say it is mixable? Or is it just a number, minus the
genres/types you told it to ignore?

What kind of cpu usage are you seeing with the file types you're
 streaming?

Edit: It doesn't seem to enjoy my flac files very much (stock speeds)

@MusicManiac

1) Check your wifi ap/router. In the worst case it will need about 180
KB/s bandwidth. Make sure the latency between your squeezeserver and
touchpad is low otherwise it will take a lot time to buffer.
2) Flac decoding is not CPU intensive which is in the design spec. If
you could playback ogg files then its safe to assume the same CPU is
powerful enough to decode FLAC files. If you want you can try BFQ I/O
scheduler (you need to install govnah and uber kernel from preware).
3) Check the CPU usage with top inside touchpad. You should be
expecting more than 30% id (idle) in average when squeezeslave is
running.

For your reference I installed uber kernel with max frequency set to
1.5G Hz and have turned the cpu frequency governor to preformance
(therefore can have a more consistent performance) the CPU usage of
squeezeslave measures around 7% when playing back mp3. Therefore I
don't think CPU is the bottleneck here when running at 1.2G HZ.

Not sure I understand what the difference is between mixable status
and length of time it takes to analyze. My (admittedly imperfect)
understanding is that the number of mixable tracks is the number of
tracks that have been analyzed _and_ determined to be mixable. I am not
sure what makes a track un-mixable, but out of my 7000 tracks only 2 are
not mixable, so I don't worry about it. If your MIP analysis is still
ongoing, then I would expect the reported number of mixable tracks will
be less than your total library (maybe substantially so, if there is
still a lot of analysis to do), and will continue to be so until the
analysis is finished. And 3+ days for 32k tracks is not unheard of.

No. CLI from iPeng works just fine but then iPeng looks for servers
itself.

Right now I'm running three servers here, all on the same network, two
of the 7.6 one 7.5. Different OSs (Ubuntu and OSX)
All of them have players connected.

The ubuntu 7.6 server (7.6.1 release) sees the players from the OSX
server (7.6.2 nightly) and the ones from MySB but not the ones from the
7.5.5 server

The OSX 7.6 server only sees the players from MySB

The 7.5.5 server also sees the players from the OSX server and from
MySB but not from the 7.6.1 server.

The OSX one is a test server only so I was mislead into thinking this
actually never works but it looks like it works sporadically.

I'm definitely not less concerned about Philips long term commitment to
their music streaming devices, just because they release new hardware
now doesn't mean they plan to support and continuously enhance the

Do any of your SBS boxes have more than one active ethernet?

I haven't yet tracked down the exact problem, but I think something odd
is happening with SBS broadcasts on boxes with more than one interface.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] new features on iPad: SqueezePad 1.8.0 hits the store!

2011-09-02 Thread bluegaspode

version 1.8.2 has been released and improves compatibility with server
version 7.6.x
- SqueezePad crashed on startup when SB-Server 7.6.0 sometimes created
a corrupt playlist for a player. Now when the server is into this
state, you'll see a message in the playlist window kindly asking you to
upgrade your server to version 7.6.1 where Logitech fixed the problem
- the album view with server 7.6 now again shows the 'empty' cover for
albums without a cover like with previous versions of the server
- SqueezePad now (if available) also renders the 'album artist' tag in
the now playing area like a Squeezebox Touch and the web interface
- improved speed of loading track images in playlist windows when using
7.6 server

Well I've spent more time than my quick evaluation before and it is
working good.

I think the stutters I was experiencing probably have more to do with
cpu usage being taken away from squeezeslave due to multitasking(or
hitting a bad webpage) than it topping out. Bandwidth shouldn't be an
issue. (unless its the pad itself... or the download throttling applies
to streams? don't believe it does...)

Checking top and it is inline with what you said it should be.
Occasionally it (and pulseaudio) spikes, but nothing unexpected. Stock
kernel still.

I will need to play with the latency or delay options as switching
tracks produces trash every know and then.(have you needed to tweak
it?)

Anyway good work, thanks again for the port.

The music scan part seems to be about 10-15 minutes faster in 7.6.1,
but the rest is broken.

I use 2TB Samsungs in a ThermalTake toaster hooked to a eSata
PCI-express card on my movie machine. Vastly superior to any USB
attach. Alas, the TeraStation Pro's are raid-5 and attached to a pure
gigabit loop so with full-duplex and jumbo frames, their performance is
very adequate as the music store.

I use VortexBox precisely because the webUI and scanning are so
dramatically faster than winders. No VortexBox appliance is involved,
only VB virtual machines running in VMWare Workstation.

Probably just very little call for it. I imagine the main focus of the
feature is being able to pull players away from mysb.com, in which case
it means that you do have both servers running.

Other than that, unattached players have always had to explicitly
connect themselves to a server, and never the other way around. Even in
the simple example with only one server and a newly configured player
that hasn't yet been attached to anything, the server can't connect to

The thread posted is for setting up a receiver without the controller
(assuming you had a Duet, which isn't the case).
As that poster also mentioned, if your new network looks like the old
network, it should just work. Did you change your network settings of
network name? The server name or settings?
There are alternate remote settings which are supposed to work - I
think JVC DVD? Someone else may be able to help more there.
Worst case, you could order a Touch remote (but it will take a few days
to get).
