[slim] forum admin, pls create entry linking to "NEW Bugzilla Process" right on forum list
I had to write "forum list" because the title length is limited - I am referring to the forum entry page with the overview over all forums http://forums.slimdevices.com. It was a long way until I eventually found http://bugs.slimdevices.com. Since "NEW Bugzilla Process" (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74846) is rather 'hidden' in 'General Discussion' I didn't even see and read it, until now. That's obviously not in the interest of the topic starter .. When entering the forums, one's browser should find the topic "NEW Bugzilla Process" when searching for key words like bug, feature, request, enhancement. So forum admin, would you please create some kind of link on forums.slimdevices.com with above keywords in the description below that points to respective thread? I am 100% positive there is a way in the forum software to either hard-link a forum entry directly to an entry, or to add custom links onto the main entry page .. SqueezePlayer does not have an "Settings -> Advanced -> About" dialog. I guess you are looking in the menus from the Logitech App (which is at version 1.1.3). SqueezePlayer does not show its version number in the menus, you'd have to look via the Android Settings menu. Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->SqueezePlayer. Re: [slim] Announce: Whitebear Media Server v2.2 Released
> I understood it was the only way to get my art covers to be displayed on > my SqueezePlayers. Have I understood this right? No, it is not the *only* way: > as you yourself said, there are indeed two ways to play to a Squeezeplayer: 1) Library (by Whitebear) => Player (by Whitebear) 2) Library JRMC (*) => Player (by Whitebear) (*) or another control point like Windows Media Player, Foobar, etc. In case 1) SBS/LMS is sourcing the all music track data and all its meta data and cover art images. The control point just informs Whitebear about this, and Whitebear just informs SBS/LMS to refer back to back to its own data. The control point only sends control commands, via Whitebear, to play this or that track, but no actual data (be it meta data, music stream or cover art), needs to be transferred because that data is already inside SBS/LMS. Therefore everything works smoother. In case 2) the control point is sourcing the track data, which it then gives to Whitebear, which Whitebear then passes on to SBS/LMS. The track meta data and cover art come from the control point; and the control point is also actually providing the music data stream too. Therefore there is far more "stuff" being passed between control point, Whitebear and SBS/LMS, so the data integration is more complex, and it risks to run less smoothly. Also if Logitech messes with things in the server (as they just did in v7.7.x), it risks that I also have to change things in Whitebear to match (as I just did in this new build). Notwithstanding the above, case 2) works fine in the test version that )p( is now kindly testing. It displays all track meta data (albeit on one line), the cover art, and obviously it plays the track itself. (In some cases, the control point might not support the seek function on all formats; but that regrettably is not the fault of Whitebear). )p(;682505 Wrote: > Using jrmc's library will give you much more flexiblity in building your > own view schemes.I don't really know enough about JRMC to judge whether )p( > is right on this. Thanks for your quick response, bluegaspode! I think I have gone through all that you suggested to troubleshoot, except testing with another android device as the Toshiba tablet is the only android I have in hand. I'll certainly try with a different one later when I have a chance. Though understanding I could be wrong, I believe my wifi router is much more than capable of streaming flac or any format music around the house in terms of its performance as well as the condition of RF interference I might have been experiencing in my neighborhood. My Squeezebox Duet has been on wifi for years and worked perfectly. This router wireless streams Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall programs in 720P HD format on a daily basis to a Sony blu-ray player about 10 meters away in another room without any problems. It streams the same programs to the Toshiba tablet in the same quality as well. I did test with the MP3 albums from both the squeezebox server on QNAP NAS and the one on a PC, and the result was the same. At this time I came to suspect the Toshiba tablet may not be a good platform for the SqueezePlayer. I looked into the server log, and it seems that for many dis-connection problems that happened there is a record in the log that reads: [12-01-08 11:48:33.4735] Slim::Utils::Timers::__ANON__ (273) Error: Timer Slim::Web::Cometd::sendResponse failed: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Slim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 150. Re: [slim] Print out of CD list
The project is still chucking along, though I've had a few setbacks. Among them: - I've had to change to another GUI toolkit completely. (Square one again!) Some things were simply not possible (- at least with my still rather limited set of skills). - an internal modelling structure in the new GUI toolkit was obviously far too slow. I've created a new model that performs a lot better :) - I've, just now, encountered what seems to be a bug in the LMS server's JSON interface. I can work around this to some extent, so tracks and albums can be catalogged as expected, but sorting tracks is still quite troublesome. (Bugreport filed on http://bugs.slimdevices.com) Also, I've added options for catalogging a connected player's playlist, as well as saved playlists. I'm still contemplating a plethora of design ideas for the output (and so also learning a lot more HTML/CSS). It's still not too late, if anyone should have a design idea or two for the output - feel free to contact me. And now - on with the coding... -- DK_Dennis DK_Dennis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90928 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
