Every station has a limit of number of users logged in and bandwidth
being used. If you try the ShoutCast App it will display both the
number of current logins (listeners) and the max number of logins
allowed by that station.

sorry, I don't use itunes integration or track stat so can't help. You
might want to create a new thread on How to setup Trackstat with

[slim] Need help to setup Trackstat with itunes

2012-02-09 Thread Finchy

Hi all

I have Logitech Media Server installed on my Windows Home Server 2011.
I had initially installed iTunes on there with a copy of my iTunes
files and DB from my laptop, but decided it was easier to just keep a
copy of the files on there and use a syncing application to update the
new music and changed DB files between the two.

My Squeezebox Touch connects to LMS and is picking up all my music and
playlists from the iTunes files (despite iTunes not being installed on
it). However, I can't get Trackstat to sync back with playcounts. I
have a trial license activated on it (which expires tomorrow!) but I
don't want to pay for it until I know it works. Is there anything I am
doing wrong?

I also want to be able to update ratings in the Touch if possible and
have it sync those back to iTunes - does Trackstat allow you to do
that?

Thanks

Re: [slim] iPeng Update: More Music: SoundCloud, Aupeo, hypem.com... anyone?

2012-02-09 Thread sg2

Hi Pippin,

Thank you so much for the continued work on iPeng, which for me and my
relatives, is a stepstone in the way of usable, seamless digital audio
streaming.

Could you please consider, for a future upgrade, to separate the
volume - touch area from the multiplayer control dropdown popup ? I
have asked for this several times already; even though I don't consider
my fingers to be any fat, I really really have a hard time hitting the
volume - touch button without popping up the multiplayer control...
This is true for all screenviews (main; currently playing). It is the
only thing negative I can think of about iPeng; please make it
perfect:)

Regards,

Eh, sounds neat, but it looks like more trouble that it's worth.
Doesn't seem to work anymore and everything can change on a whim.

Found this below:

ShoutCast has been completely removed from SqueezeBox content.
Logitech is working on it but has no ETA for a fix.

I suspect it will not be fixed for a while.

Here is how you can still listen to ShoutCast content:

Go to ShoutCast.com, search for your station, click Play. This should
launch your media server program designated to play that type of stream
and it will begin to play that stream. WMP, WinAmp, iTunes, etc... I
use WinAmp. Now double click the stream name (or whatever you need to
do to reveal the stream details including the URL), now cut/copy that
URL.

Now go to the web UI of either SBS or MySB.com, whichever you use, go
to Internet Radio Tune in URL *paste the URL* play

Once playing you can add to your Favorites. But keep in mind ShoutCast
often changes it's station URL's so your station may play for 12 hours
or 12 months, then it will just not play because ShoutCast has
arbitrary decided to do it's URL shuffle game. Then you will have to
do the cut paste routine all over again.

[slim] Estonian public radio WMA streams defunct?

2012-02-09 Thread Nick_G

I like listening to ERR Raadio 2 as they have some diverse interesting
music programming. I had the 128k WMA stream saved as a favourite along
with the other public networks. Yesterday Raadio 2 would just get as
far as 'Connecting...' but no further, although the other stations
played as usual. This evening all the ERR WMA streams are dead.

I looked on Raadio 2's web site and found that the only stream links
were for 128k and 64k AAC and a Real Player stream. None of them work
in the Squeezebox, the AAC streams because they use the RTSP protocol.

So, as the WMA streams aren't listed, does this mean they have been
abandoned, or is this just a temporary hiccup? I hope it's the latter
as I'd hate to lose Raadio 2. Saturday evenings I like to listen to
Talllinn Express, for example.

Thanks for any info on this.
Regards,
Nick

Re: [slim] Announce: Whitebear Media Server v2.2 Released

2012-02-09 Thread Wigster

AndrewFG;687129 Wrote:
 Hi Wigster,

Although I installed the Shark codecs, WMP12 was still not able to
stream flac files to Whitebear or Squeeze players. Could you please
give me more details of what parts of Shark you installed, and how you
set it up? I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and I am wondering if that
 makes any difference.

Sorry for relying so late:

Well, it seems to just work on my setup. I have the Shark codecs for
Win 7 installed (you need both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions,
since WMP-12 is a 32-bit app) and set to their recommended settings. I
am also running a plugin called WMP Tag Plus, which allows me to add to
the library the files which are not normally supported. Maybe this is a
key?

In addition, the server must have file access to the directory in which
the music files are located: I am running the LMS service on the server
using the same user as I use on the laptop, so that the permissions
work out. You should be able to test if this is possible by browsing to
the music folder through LMS's menus and playing the files (you may have
to add some kind of link across machines?).

Given the above, playing FLACS works perfectly fine. It is also
possible to play AAC files in this way. However there is a problem: the
same track will repeat over and over once it reaches the end instead of
progressing onto the next track in the list.

You have sent me a new version by PM: I am not sure whether you changed
anything with regard to the above, but I'll let you know if there is any
change.

Re: [slim] How many people can listen to a radio station's stream?

2012-02-09 Thread toby10

He's posting about very old issues with ShoutCast, it works fine.

buffett,
You won't find your station on ShoutCast, they have very little in
AM/FM rebroadcasts (thank god), that's not what ShoutCast is about.
I only mentioned ShoutCast as an example of where they provide
additional information most stations do not provide per the discussion
of how stations have limits on the number of logins.
ShoutCast provides the number of logins currently on that station and
max number of allowed logins.

Just install the ShoutCast app, play around with it, couldn't be
simpler to operate and navigate it. There is a whole world of internet
only stations out there (ShoutCast currently boasts 52,000 streams).
Have a play at it.

Helpful hint: Use the ShoutCast bitrate filter within the App to
filter out the low bitrate (poor audio quality) streams. They have
TONS of very good sounding streams at 192k or better, and many are
commercial free. :)

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...

2012-02-09 Thread Iigo

Finally, I've cleared default action for dock (it started clock-dock
app).
So now I put the phone on the dock, close which app to start in dock
mode? dialog every time, and connect the speakers as mobile's
headphones.

It's the better solution I've found.

Main problem is that dock only redirects sound to speakers when
dock-mode is enabled and a supported player is running (CM7 default
music player, Mort Player or TuneIn Radio applications work).
SqueezePlayer was not included in the list of supported players, so I
had to start Mort Player, pause it, and run SqueezePlayer in order the
sound to be redirected. Too much work, and often stopped working. Thus,
I unplugged the speakers from dock and use phone headphones plug.

Iñigo

It would be great if they just bought Squeeze from L-tech.

[slim] Ignoring small/capital letter?

2012-02-09 Thread oivindi

It seems Logitech Media Server (version 7.7.1) is separating artist
names when there is a difference in small and capital letters - and
only that.

For instance, Wouter van Veldhoven and Wouter Van Veldhoven is
listed as two separate artists (notice the small/capital v in van).

Any way to avoid this?

Yes, LMS is more picky now. Fix your tags to be consistent. I like
mp3tag for this sort of thing. I've been slowly picking up places
where I have such inconsistencies and just fix the tags and move
on.

So to fix the foreign character issues, someone decided a couple of
UPPER arguments could go . .

+1

Aside from the issue of software clunk, Ltech might have better
investigated content license issues

Yes that could be the cause (because I don't have that plug-in
installed). I will give it a try, and keep you posted.

I think that is unlikely to matter...

Wigster;689796 Wrote:
What doesn't work for either FLAC or AAC is skipping to a different

playing restarts from the beginning.Yes that sounds like a classic problem
 with LMS/SBS -- I can confirm
your experience... ;-(

Wigster;689796 Wrote:
You have sent me a new version by PM: I am not sure whether you changed
anything with regard to the above, but I'll let you know if there is
any change.I changed quite a bit in the Play To functionality. Players should
 now
display much more track meta data and album art. Also if you Play To
with WAV, PCM or AIF, then Whitebear fixes the above mentioned LMS/SBS
problems with Seek and Pause, by proxying the streams and applying the
Seek internally itself.

Try out Whitebear. The middleware that joins the two worlds of:
1. UPnP/DLNA media clients and media players, and,
2. Squeezebox Server and Squeeze Players

Re: [slim] My fridge makes my speakers pop...

2012-02-09 Thread pjlsergeant

Did you get this solved? I have a very similar problem. Bought a UPS off
Amazon on some recommendations, which I got around to using last night,
but it hasn't solved the problem. Just ordered a power supply as
suggested earlier in the thread...

It's not only popping my speakers, we suspect it's killing the TV too,
as we keep needing to get it repaired :-P
