Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released

2012-02-16 Thread socistep

Hello

I recently bought an Asus transformer Prime and it auto installed
orangesqueeze and squeezecommander, have to say that out of the 2 I
much prefer the look and feel of OS on the 10inch screen - obviously
I'm aware it isn't a tablet version however it still looks good,
especially the now playing screen in portrait orientation.

I'm aware that a tablet version is on your to-do list but unsure of the
status of that? However couple of general comments

- Main thing stopping me adopting OS is being unable to support Erlands
dynamic playlists and rating via trackstat, this is an important way I
listen to music.
- On the tablet in landscape mode the space to the right of the artwork
could be used better
- Would be great to view larger/grid artwork when viewing
artists/albums/new music etc.
- Squeezeplayer works very well, really like the integration of the
two

If you are planning a beta programme for the tablet version then let me
know, happy to help test that

thanks
Ian

[slim] Server address

2012-02-16 Thread austinreeve

My server address is given as 192.168.0.4:9000 and if I type that in as
the URL that's fine. I set it as my homepage in Firefox but when I
open it, either through the browser or through the Media Server Control
Panel/Advanced/Web Remote Control it opens 127.0.0.1:9000. Why should
this be and how can I stop it from happening, please?

Re: [slim] Server address

2012-02-16 Thread JerryS

Don't worry about it, the two ip addresses are one and the same!
127.0.0.1 is the ip address reserved by your operating system for the
local host, ie, the webserver running on your computer. For an
explanation of this, google 'localhost'.

[slim] Constantly buffering

2012-02-16 Thread skvinson

For the past couple days, my player (a Classic SB) has constantly been
pausing and buffering. Is this an internet issue or is it something
with the player/software? BTW, I'm running it wireless.

Thanks

Do you use SqueezeCenter/Squeezebox Server/Logitech Media Server? Or
mysqueezebox.com?

Any changes to your network lately?

Have you tried power cycling your router?

I use Logitech Media Server.
No changes.
I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

Re: [slim] Logitech Airplay Speaker

2012-02-16 Thread froth

The biggest issue I have with the squeeze line is ease of use for techo
neofites. My system is sold, little to no issues all rooms using
wireless with a wireless infrastructure that has N based devices and
extenders. Even my microwave no longer causes disruptions in the
kitchen setup.

The problem comes when the wife wants to use the system beyond presets
I have put on a boom in the kitchen for her or the favorites I have
created.

We use iPeng on ipod and iphones to control the system. So to me the
interface is good and easy to use. She still has troubles, the kids
not so much but they do say things are much easier to do when playing
music from their ithing docked in a base. In fact, often if they are
in a room with a boom, instead of just using ipeng to play what they
want, they will connect their ithing to the external input into the
boom and play right from their ithing. I hate that as for the most
part we keep everything on the server and then when they want to update
their ithing they have a way to easily add the music to their ithing
from the server.

For the wife if I know she is doing something and will want certain
rooms synced, I predo that for her and then ask her what she will want
to play for music so I can easily put the sources there for her such as
streaming from Sirius XM or playlists from our large library. So I end
up being the DJ so to speak just so she does not get frustrated, go to
the basement and unboxes thousands of CD's and go old school.

In some ways I believe we need a very simple interface offering basic
features to make this easy on the people who are not technical. For
example, a sync interface where is actually tells you what to do on the
infterface to sync devices in very easy terms and steps. iPeng is close
but not close enough so my wife can easily figure it out.

As Jerry explained, 127... is when using the web UI on the same computer
that is local hosting the LMS server.
192... is when you want to access that same web UI from another
computer as a remote web UI.

Re: [slim] Seeking High Bitrate Music Streaming Service

2012-02-16 Thread mike10100

I just switched from Rhapsody to MOG.
MOG allows user to stream in more than one place, previously, if I were
to listen to Rhapsody at work, my squeezebox at home would stop playing.
With MOG I can now stream in multiple places and use SqueezePlay to
sync Totally with one of my other players. This also was prevented in
Rhapsody.
MOG rocks and streams at 320k too.
I heart MOG and squeezebox!

Re: [slim] Server address

Right, that makes sense as I initially installed the server on a
different computer from the main one which I use for everything else,
thinking that I would dedicate it just to the squeezebox, using an
external hard drive to store the files. However the idea had to be
abandoned because the fan on that computer was too noisy!! Thanks for
your explanation.

Apologies if you already understand this, but just in case, do you
realize that the computer running SbS/LMS doesn't need to be anywhere
near your listening room. It could be sitting next to your router in
the basement, closet, etc. All that matters is that it is on the same
local network as your SB Player, which does of course need to be near
(and connected to) your stereo system.

It could be a new WAP on the same channel near you. If you have a
wireless PC, install inSSIDer and see what else is in your area and
change your channel accordingly. (Rather than AUTO, use the lowest
channel selectable.)

You might want to make sure you have wireless security enabled since
you neighbors might use you connection otherwise.

Rebooting your WAP is also free and effective.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.2 released

2012-02-16 Thread Jaicee

Hi I'm having some trouble getting squeezeplayer to output to the right
device. I'm trying to use it on my HTPC connected to my TV via HDMI
running XBMCbuntu (a cut down ubuntu distribution with a LXDE desktop
that you can optionally boot to).

If I just boot straight to XBMC the hdmi audio isn't displayed by
squeezeslave -L however if I boot even to the login screen where you
can chose which desktop environment to load I get the expected output
and I can use squeezeslave just fine. Below are the outputs of aplay -L
and -l (identical in both cases) and squeezeslave -l

http://pastebin.com/TQs1LngM
http://pastebin.com/aBEydASk

Any ideas what's wrong here?
