Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
Hi Jylppy, for your scenario there is a setting in the web-server of your Squeezebox. Please open the web-interface of your server, then go to Settings - Player. For each (!) Squeezebox there is a setting play other songs from album. When you activate it, you can tap a song in SqueezePad and all other songs of the album will be put into the playlist as well. If on rare occasions you still just want to play a single song, you can still use the the context menu with the long press, which operates on single tracks. There is another way: you can play a whole album from the album view just by tapping the cover (regardless of the option above). So you don't even need to drill down. Do these possibilities help in your situation? bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Sonos TV ad
Anyone catch the national TV ad for Sonos? Saw it last night Oct 19th, guessing around 9 pm EST. Might have been on the History ch. There is no option play album when doing long press for a track. For sake of consistency that could be added to the list? bluegaspode wrote: There is another way: you can play a whole album from the album view just by tapping the cover (regardless of the option above). There I find it weird that I cannot play the whole album - or it is not very obvious that I can play it. Now I know that clicking one track in a album plays the whole album since my setting. I still propose to improve the usability of Squezepad by enabling album/artist/genre/etc/ playback by clicking/long pressing the album title. Using that as home function is bit illogical - especially since there is a home button. Another cool improvement would be skip next/previous track by flicking the album art left/right in the currently playing album art-view. That's the way it works in Spotify and native Music app. Jylppy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57639 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] DAC 101 Help Please!
Atlantic wrote: Very interesting thoughts. (I don't know anything about DACs and today's amps - we only have traditional analogue kit, actually just integrated miniHiFi systems with various analogue inputs.) I think you're saying that most analogue conventional amps are ok, but not the multichannel kit (such as the OP's Denon?). I've been thinking about the Harmon Kardon range - in particular the stereo items such as http://uk.harmankardon.com/harman-kardon-product-detail-uk/hk-3490.html It's a very big box, though. This has digital in (co-ax, and optical - are those a 'standard', do you think, so that the Squeezebox digital outputs would 'just work' into these) and presumably has a DAC and, I guess reasonable conventional amps? Do you feel that this kind of kit has better 2-channel performance than the sort of AV equipment that you were worried about? And, the same question as the OP raised, external DAC could be placed between an SQbox and this amp, so only using the amp as an analogue device? In your view, using analogue power stages is ok from the point of view of next step up in quality, (or not)? Again, thanks for the basic but very useful (to me, too) thread regards, Atlantic Nice amp, the 3490, very clean and powerful and stable into 4 ohms. I have my Touch connected to mine via coax in my 2-channel/vinyl rig. Its internal DAC is apparently a 24/96 AKM. Sounds good enough that I've never bothered to hook the SB to it via analog outs. Sub-outs and pre-out/main-in jacks are handy as well. Re: [slim] How many of you have spare squeezeboxes?
I picked up another Touch before the prices went up after hearing of the product's demise and being unimpressed with the UE line. Really nothing like it. May set it up at my mom's as a MOG device rather than just leaving it in the box. She'll love it. :-) Jack Gilvey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57582 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] How many of you have spare squeezeboxes?
I've had just one SB3 for years. But since the announcement of the end of the product line I've bought a used Boom and a Duet as backup, and have my eye out for good deals on a new Touch. This lot should last til some viable alternative system comes onto the market - such an alternative must have a programmable API for me to use my muso product on it, and as yet it seems there's just nothing else out there. jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Got 3 SB3 (2 spare still boxed up), boom, receiver and touch bought as a blemished box (but in prestine condition) for £100 about a year ago. briggy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

However, we got to give it some time, updating hardware/software to match the needs and sign necessary agreements with content providers aren't going to happen over a night. Fortunately we can keep enjoying music from our current Squeezebox devices while we wait, so it's not a major problem, I'll start to worry if we haven't seen any indication that someone is about to try to fulfill the needs within the Squeezebox market segment within a year or two. Still have the issue in the new preview version of the numbers instead of letters when quickly scrolling down the artists list; you fixed in the original version, would the same fix work here? thx. fphredd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33133 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92330 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
