Re: [slim] KLEJ Radio Station
The problem is the station, they are not making their stream available beyond their own web player. Email the station and ask for a direct stream URL which does not require you to be logged onto their website (I'd bet they won't provide this). The other large stream aggregators (vTuner, Reciva, iHeartRadio) have no stream available for KLEJ. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99145 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] KLEJ Radio Station
Bummer. I tried the station, they referred me to freestreams, where I could not get any contact info. You'd think a radio station would want to be heard. [slim] Current performance of ALAC?
I am using an Atom powered Win 7 nettop to host my LMS. I have been ripping to FLAC for years but would now like to use ALAC since I have just bought a Mac and Itunes is so dead simple to rip and tag with on the Mac. I have two radios, a classic, a boom and pogoplug running squeezelite in my Squeezebox family I would like to play these ALAC files with. Will my Atom powered nettop have enough grunt to transcode the ALAC files easily or should I learn how to rip to FLAC on my Mac and forget ALAC? usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Current performance of ALAC?
Transcoding ALAC to FLAC doesn't require an awful lot of processing power, even a NAS should have no problem with that. The limitation is usually that you need an ALAC decoder and some NAS don't have that. Under Windows this probably means you'll need to have iTunes/QuickTime installed. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and *New: Logitech UE Smart Radio* as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If you're interested in lossless files, you probably care about accuracy of rips as well. Itunes is not a secure ripper (such as EAC, dbpoweramp, CueTools), nor does it use ACCURATERIP comparisons. Of course 99% of the time it really doesn't matter. But for the OCD among us, worrying over the 1% non-bitperfect rips keeps us up at night. ;-) *Location 1:* VortexBox Appliance 4TB (2.2) LMS 7.7.2 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) LMS 7.7.2 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Current performance of ALAC?
Thank you both for the reply. Glad to hear my little nettop should be able to get the job done. I am considering using Itunes to rip since I am tired of maintaining two libraries. I guess the first time I hear any issues with the files I might change my mind but as of now the convenience factor of maintaining just one library will likely win out. usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

There is the option of ripping to ALAC with dbpoweramp. Then you get the benefit of a secure ripper that uses accuraterip and a single library. *Location 1:* VortexBox Appliance 4TB (2.2) LMS 7.7.2 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) LMS 7.7.2 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99146 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezePlay for Mac OSX
Hello, I am having my first experience with a Mac for a media server I am trying to set up. Its going very well so far and working 98.5 % of the way I hoped for but I am hoping for some help with the last little bit. I have been trying to make my first shell script to do what I am doing manually in the terminal. I assumed it could be like a bat file and just click on it and it would execute my three little lines #!/bin/bash export USEPADEVICE=XMOS USB 2.0 Audio Out export USEPAMAXSAMPLERATE=192000 open ~/Applications/SqueezePlay.app exit It works perfectly when I type it manually into the terminal. I am running a headless 10.6.8 and I have saved these lines a file called SqueezePlay.sh under my home directory. Obviously, I got some problems, cause instead of executing, I get this : Last login: Thu Jul 11 15:43:03 on ttys000 mac-mini:~ gena_mak$ ./SqueezePlay ./SqueezePlay: line 1: {rtf1ansiansicpg1252cocoartf1038cocoasubrtf360: command not found ./SqueezePlay: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `}' ./SqueezePlay: line 2: `{\fonttbl\f0\fswiss\fcharset0 Helvetica;}' I tried putting the same information into an applescript and that didn't work out very well either LOL Thanks for any guidance you could give... ps - Thanks to all of the information I have received from Ralphy to get high res music running so far.. Re: [slim] Current performance of ALAC?
If you really consider switching your ripping over to the Mac i suggest using XLD ripper converting to ALAC. Its ripping security should be superior to itunes. It also creates neat logs comparable or even more detailed as the ones in EAC and dbpoweramp.
