Ultra low noise regulators are used for the outputs. John S. Thank you John, I'm really impatient to be able to buy CSP2 (probably full assembled) ... But one more point, is CSP boards includes necessarily an on board DAC ? In my setup i would prefer to use an external DAC (Rega DAC) but i'm very pleased that digital outputs will be good. hi, access points (in most cases) are always shit... The only good way to manage Access points is one switch feeds all of them only via LAN. If any works as a repeater you just get the half of its capacity because he must send the ack from the client back to the server - if that works just over LAN its god - if the backbone is also WLAN he needs the half capacity of it. And then alway check the channels in fact use different channels on each Accesspoint to limit the traffic Wlan over Wlan! To find out, whats the weak point get the Clients together in one room. Thank's Julf and Cliveb My goal is to get, as soon as possible, a SB Touch alternative or replacement for my HIFI digital setup and the most important point is audio quality associated with Rega external DAC (or other good external audiophile DAC) . So if CSP carrier could act as an audiophile grade digital transport i will get one. Also it would be great to have a touch screen UI (like SB Touch) but if it is not possible it is not so crucial for me. Well, Rega makes a point about their USB input being isolated, so electrically it doesn't matter if you use a RPI or something else. Unfortunately the USB doesn't seem to be async, so you might be better off with a more modern DAC. To try to judge the real from the false will always be hard. If there is excessive network congestion, which can happen particularly when there are many players on the network and with wireless networks, then the default delay of 200ms may not be sufficient. Re: [slim] What should replace my Squeezebox system?
I may have missed it, but I didn't see anyone talking about the Surface RT tablet from Microsoft as a replacement for Squeezebox devices. Like original poster on this thread, I have my music on a Windows Home Server system (HP Datavault), including MP3s and FLAC files, some of which are 24-bit high-res files I have been buying recently. In addition to two SB Classics and a Touch, I had been using a dell laptop connected by USB to a DAC on one of the all-too-many stereo systems around the house. The laptop's fan is annoying when I'm listening to a quiet passage, and I have other plans for that unit. I paid $350 for Microsoft Surface RT tablet recently, which is not much more than I paid for the SB units. It has no fan. (Unlike the Surface Pro, which does have a fan, and is far more expensive.) It sees the Windows server with the music on my home LAN. It has a USB port to connect to the DAC. Mediamonkey app running on the Surface RT is conversant with the Logitech Media Server software on the server, via UPnP, and plays all my music files. There are a few minor issues (I heard a few hiccups in the playback while MS was pushing OS updates at the tablet), but did not require any fancy configuration footwork, just WiFi access point, which I already had. Finding out if this would work before I took the plunge was the trickest part. I actually carried a DAC to the Microsoft store and a pair of headphones to prove to myself that the output side would function. Yes you have to spend some time getting used to the Windows 8 interface. But given that I'm already invested in Microsoft infrastructure, this was I think one of the easiest ways to go. I know there's a lot of anti-Microsoft factionism out there, but if you are looking for a company that is likely to be still around in 5 years, I think you can put Microsoft on the list. headed4hires's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61908 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99871 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Using the Surface RT would be interesting. I wonder if we can compile LMS and Squeezelite and side load/install them on the Surface RT? qnology's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59703 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99871 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The SB server provides superior buffering compared to a player; at least for me, my SB3s, etc. HTH. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I've tried increasing and decreasing the Synchronized Players Startup Delay to no avail. I had been using Direct Streaming, but tried setting it to Proxied for each player and that didn't help either. I can post some logs from player.sync = Debug, but is there another log I can also select to show how LMS is parsing and processing the radio stream? I do not think it is the network as I'm averaging 2 - 4ms at each of the 18 radios on a ping -t when nothing is playing and the same latency with all 18 synced and streaming. I've backed off the Minimum Synchronization Adjustment (ms) from 10 to 60 and that seems to be the only setting that helps. Local music generally starts playing within 5 seconds about 3/4 of the time. Sometimes it will take up to 30 seconds to hear the sound at the radios (though the timescale slider moves as though I should be hearing the audio). And few internet radio stations also start up quickly. But most of the are still taking a full 1 minute or won't start playing at all. I'm going to try installing LMS on another slightly more powerful machine to see if that does anything for me. tandy1000rl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61730 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100183 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
