[slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
If you are a SiriusXM user you have probably already noticed that the service is no longer available on the Squeezebox through MySqueezebox.com. At ickStream we would be very interested to offer a replacement implementation that would work on the Squeezeboxes, too. If you haven't heard about ickStream as of yet, we are providing an access service for a number of different streaming services - a bit similar to MySqueezebox.com - which is available to Squeezebox users as an LMS plugin. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98467-Pre-Announcement-ickStream-Music-Platform http://wiki.ickstream.com/index.php/Open_Beta_Squeezebox For this, we need your help. First of all, we would like to know whether such an implementation would be of interest for you as a SiriusXM user. Specifically, a solution through ickStream would run as a plugin for LMS so youd have to have a server running to use it. We cant implement this on MySqueezebox.com or completely replace MySqueezebox.com as a server to run Squeezeboxes with. Second, we obviously need SiriusXM to support this, too. Here, it would probably be helpful if they were aware that there is significant interest from Squeezebox users in such a solution, otherwise its not very attractive to them since Logitech doesn't make Squeezeboxes anymore. You can reach them through https://www.siriusxm.com/contactus We believe that on the technical side we have a very good chance to get this going but we cant do it alone, SiriusXMs service is a proprietary offering and they dont have an open API. So if you want to continue to enjoy Sirius XM on the Squeezebox, contact them and let them know about ickStream! --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Chromecast Audio ideal for Squeezebox replacement hardware?
Actually, the Squeezebox does not need to be replaced at all, but the lacklustre support for streaming services is a big problem. Ickstream MIGHT be able to remedy this, but they seem to be having a hard time making significant progress, probably because their team is too small, and they are not making money out of the project. LMS Plugins CAN work great, look at Qobuz which is pretty tip-top right now thanks to Michaels work, but most services are lagging far behind, especially if the maintainer goes missing (like Triode for Spotify) or there is no open API (Google Play Music). I'm constantly torn, between investing more into Squeezelite based Players, and abandoning the system entirely. Chromecast Audio is nice enough I guess, but the handling will likely never be as neat as the LMS Server/Client system or the Sonos etc. systems. Also, the versatility (Pi + DAC/Digi/Amp) is pretty much unique. Only Sonos can rival it, but their prices are just insane. Well, my Chromecast Audio should be here in about 2 weeks (Google hates everybody outside the US apparently) and then I'll take a closer look. Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
I support this. However, before anyone contacts Sirius, a laymen like myself needs to be able to know what to tell them. In terms of showing support how about someone start a facebook group and let's get everyone here to join it. Or maybe start a petition and get people to sign it. There is a reason why SiriusXM sent letters to everyone who has a Logitech device.because obviously alot of people were using it. jojopuppyfish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
This is what I sent to SiriusXM via the contact email link Pippin posted. (Note, I did NOT have to fill in the RadioID number in the form to submit the email). I am a long time SiriusXM subscriber (2 autos plus internet streaming). Effective 9/30/15, Logitech Squeezebox devices no longer can stream SiriusXM. This is disappointing. However, a 3rd party provider to Squeezebox, "IckStream" is interested in developing a plugin for squeezeboxes that can return this functionality. The company, ickStream, already has success in doing this and has plugins that enable squeezeboxes to work with TIDAL and others. They are a quality organization. A review of the Logitech forums on this streaming issue will confirm that there is a great demand for such a plugin (and lots of disappointment if something can't be done to return SiruisXM to our Squeezebox players). Thanks. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi - I don't have a Squeezebox, just the successor UE Smart Radio from Logitech. I'm also quite the noob in discussing this topic. Just for my information, would the proposed plug-in also work with the UE Smart Radio? Or is my environment too proprietary/closed for this to help me restore my SiriusXM service?
