I agree 100% when it comes to music vis SiriusXM. Nothing there I need to replace. But my wife (and me to a much lesser extent) really likes the NPR (mostly) and other news stations on XM. We listen to these in our cars a lot (we have a weekend trip we often make where FM is not reliable and the NPR XM shows are good company). And my wife is very hooked on certain XM NPR shows in the early evening. Since the loss I've managed to replace most of what she missed at home with streamable podcasts of the same shows (albeit a day later). The frustrating thiing to me is that the longer I'm involved in streaming digital music, the more things seem to move backwards rather than forward. I was just playing around with the single Sonos unit I bought last year to see how it worked, and just discovered that among its other limitations it can't even deal with compilation tags in a FLAC file. It seems very bizarre that an old technology squeezebox remains cutting edge! It's like the next models of cars are more like Model T's than 2015 Hondas. Weird. But the market seems to only care about people that want to stream to bluetooth speakers from their smart phones. That's fine, but that doesn't fit my needs. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I've got 2-SB3s, a Duet and a Transporter. I have SiriusXM in my cars so I can listen to some news, NFL and MLB. My wife has a couple of Sirius favorite music channels, but the quality of Sirius is HORRIBLE compared to XM (receiver difference is totally amazing). If I want music in my car, I've got high quality music streams I subscribe to (128kAAC - 320kMP3) that I would rather listen to via USB from my iPhone. Even on the SiriusXM stations that are "all music", there's always commercials for their own shows. I understand what they're doing, but I'm paying for MUSIC ONLY. I have taken time after researching SiriusXM changes (I've been an XM customer since 2003) to determine I DON'T NEED XM on my LMS system (been a Slim user since 2006). There are GREAT STREAMING options that offer a wider variety of music (how many times have you heard the same tunes on XM) at a much higher bitrate, meaning BETTER for EVERYONE. You guys are so welcomed to do what you wish with SiriusXM, but I'm cutting back the plans on my cars and losing all streaming options. Don't need it, and honestly, I may very well lose it in my cars since I have more and BETTER SOUNDING options for less money per year. Happy music hunting... Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
Hello, are you planning to support the new amazon firetv 4k? Actually the amazon store marks it as not supported. I'm currently running the squeezeplayer on an old android tablet (google app store) and it is so great. I'd be a huge supporter of this, and if there is anything I can do to help the cause, just let me know. My wife and I feel like our Squeezebox ecosystem suffered a huge blow when we lost SiriusXM. We used to listen to Howard Stern every single day on both our Boom and one of our Radios. 4 Squeezebox Radios 2 Squeezebox Receivers 1 Squeezebox Boom 1 Squeezebox Classic 2 iPads w/ iPeng 2 Samsung Galaxy S5s w/ Squeeze Commander gweempose's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9579 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Players don't always power on/off separately
hiya, thanks for your reply. I don't use ipeng. I either switch the players on/off using the power button (Booms) or remote control (Touch/Classic); or I control them via an ipad and 'squeezetouch'. The only other thing I can add is that this morning, I turned on a Touch and found that it was connected to mysqueezebox.com. This is also something I never do, preferring to listen to internet radio or my own music via LMS/Vortexbox. I pointed the player back to 'my music' and the VB, turned it on, and a Boom came on at the same time. THis doesn't happen all the time, and it's not necessarily anything too concerning at this point. I'm just wondering why it might be happening and if a) there's anything I can do to make it stop or b) does it point to something more serious going wrong? You don't happen to use iPeng and use the main power switch? [slim] Players don't always power on/off separately
Hi folks, I did a search for this and found nothing... but apologies if that's just my poor searching.. I have several players which I occasionally synchronize, occasionally don't. They are all set to "power on/off separately" and have been forever. I've never had them set to power on as a group - but, occasionally I will find that they do ignore this setting and that other players power up simultaneously. Perhaps linked to this (perhaps not), I'll occasionally come home after work and find that a few of the players have powered up themselves. I'm assuming this is some sort of power surge/power outage causing the Vortexbox and server to reset. This tends to primarily affect the Touch players. Any guidance at all? Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
Of course I support streaming SiriusXM through ickStream. Only one qualification for me and that being the future ability to stream the PREMIUM version of SiriusXM. For me personally, it is difficult to listen to music/streams with frequent interruptions and commercials. Same goes for the CalmRadio stream. But I am all for ickStream and its potential. Thank you.
