Re: [slim] Which Paid Controler App for Android?
I've used squeeze commander for years and it works great for my needs. I did have another look at squeeze ctrl after this thread got me interested again. .it's a great app and could win me overt. However. The way it handles volume of grouped players is annoying. When a player is grouped I like the volume on my phone to be grouped too and not have to go into the player manager settings to adjust the group volume or worse case change individually. SC does this brilliantly but Steve Ctrl doesn't. .you have to go to the screen where the player grouping is shown and adjust a group volume there. ..so close. .just needs an option to make that group volume default if wanted. I also don't want to group player volume at source because I like to adjust them independently when using player controls (eg turn boom down in kitchen but not player in the front room) Think it's time I went to the squeeze ctrl forum :-) Giza2020's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104914 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah, I love free stuff as much as anyone. I don't use any paid service myself. But I also understand these services need to generate revenue to keep the streams going. So I'm ok with the limitations, ads, hickups, etc... Another good free alternative is the ShoutCast service/app. You won't get station or artist art, often not even song/artist metadata. But ShoutCast has like 30,000+ stations and is quite reliable. I have my ShoutCast set to only the higher bitrate streams (mine is set to 192k) by using ShoutCasts Bitrate Limit setting. Ex: ShoutCast > Genres > Classical > All Stations has hundreds of stations. If you set the Bitrate Limit to say 192k (like mine) you have probably a couple dozen stations. You also have the option of selecting Sub-Genres like Baroque, Chamber, Romantic, Opera, Piano, etc... toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104814 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] classicalradio.com
Michael Herger, FYI Just now noticing ShoutCast is not working correctly. ShoutCast > Genres > *pick any one*, result is "failed to parse". Yet other ShoutCast streams seem to play (like ShoutCast > Most Popular), so service is not completely broken. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104814 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] classicalradio.com
If this is the afterlife for my Squeezeboxes, it's sweet. Getting ClassicalRadio to recognize I'm a premium subscriber was a little fiddly, but working now and it sounds great. All year I've dragged my feet on replacing the Squeezebox in my family room with a Sonos Connect and the one in the bedroom with a Play1. Now I can wait a while longer - I miss having SiriusXM, but this goes a very long way toward making up for it.
