Re: [slim] Delete Genres
I suspect that _createGenre in Schema.pm (or the database table definition perhaps) needs a check on genre with different case already existing and only add if not present. I'm a little surprised about these reports, as I thought we got rid of all attempts of normalization at some point (7.6?). There must be some code left still doing some case mangling. But I'd rather remove it than add more of it. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Player synchronisation problems with new mesh wifi
That makes sense. So Shairtunes wasn't the culprit but the victim, and I drew the wrong conclusion from the error messages. Whatever's causing this occasional 37s dropout when players are synced and playing is quite a rare phenomenon in my case. I've had my RPi powered down and back up numerous times today, and haven't had one instance of the dropout problem. But there do seem to be one or two other users with the same issue, dating back to 2014. It seems like the RPi might be a common factor. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110765 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Player synchronisation problems with new mesh wifi
What I have observed on my own network is that, from time to time, my wifi system goes "nuts" which causes players to disconnect randomly. As a result, players in sync will stop and restart as soon as a player re-joins, this is the way LMS works. Then, you'll have all these messages from Shairtunes because each instance stops when the player is disconnected and restarts when it comes back. That can be very annoying and I've never been able to figure out why. I had that with 3 different generations of routers and PLC (unfortuntaly I use PLC). Sometime it happens continuously for a day or two and then I don't have anything for 3 month. I've never been able either to correlate it with RF issues and I leave in a non-polluted WiFi zone. You can apparently show the current CPU frequency with: Code: sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq On my RPi4, running pCP (LMS & Squeezelite) I've never seen it show anything but the currently set maximum. So apparently there's a difference, certainly in terms of heat generation, between an idling CPU @1500MHz and one under load at the same frequency. Or maybe that command isn't doing what I think it is - that might explain why I never saw it report a different frequency when I briefly played with the governor settings in the tweaks menu. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110690 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'll see if I can dig out that thread. What do you know - that old thread has just come to life again: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101372-Skips-while-playing-in-sync It seems like I simply encountered a long-standing issue - nothing to do with my mesh wifi. It's quite possible that where I thought disabling and re-enabling Shairtunes2 solved my problem it might simply have been that that process restarted LMS. Oddly, I don't think I ever actually did that manually. I did reboot pCP, but maybe that's not enough - maybe LMS needs to be restarted after everything's up and running. If it happens again that'll be a simple thing to test. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110765 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezebox Classic issue
I've just bought a new amp to fix a problem that now appears to be my old SB Classic playing up. Luckily I have a spare Classic. The problem is that the output on one channel is very quiet compared with the other. It plays, but at greatly reduced volume. I've plugged it onto a different setup & get the same result. Swapping output leads swaps the channel with the fault. It's not an LMS issue as the new player fixed the problem. Any ideas please? muggo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11514 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110851 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Pitastic
The amp got up to operating temperature, and I connected the fan at 14:16. It seems to drop the temperature by ~5 degrees. I'm guessing it's no greater because it's mostly just moving warm air around inside the amplifier, as kidstypike suggested. The fan's not really big enough, nor suitably ducted, to draw in fresh air. I don't think it's worth the effort. Re: [slim] Pitastic
kidstypike wrote: > But you'll need good ventilation into and out of your amp, no good just > blowing hot air onto the Pi4 CPU? That's true, and it has. The baseplate has a grid of mounting holes: [image: http://www.cjh.me.uk/MyPhotobucket/cache/DIYHifi/Enclosure/Base%20plate_480.jpg] And the top plate has ventilation slots right above where I've mounted the RPi: [image: http://www.cjh.me.uk/MyPhotobucket/cache/DIYHifi/Enclosure/Top%20plate_480.jpg] And the front and back plates don't seal against the baseplate. So plenty of ventilation. I've now added the fan to the RPi4 in the amp, and I'm waiting for the amp to warm up to see what effect the fan has. This is more out of curiosity than need, and I've left the fan's power connection accessible so that I can disconnect it easily. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110690 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I needed a case for my spare 4B 1GB, so I ordered one of these on the strength of your earlier post. It arrived this morning. Not that I need it, but I'm now toying with the idea of mounting such a fan over my amplifier's 4B, since it's so completely quiet. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110690 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
