I am running PiCorePlayers around the house. You can see the details
and cost of what I did for a "deluxe" PiCorePlayer at:

https://blog.lns.com/?p=151

But you cal also build a basic one out of a $35 Raspberry Pi using power
speakers. One of my "setups" is just that.

The PiCorePlayers are cheap and easy enough to build which should carry
this platform for the foreseeable future. I find the player to be easier
to configure and more reliable than a Duet receiver. On occasion the
Duet receiver has just started playing loud static that I have to hit
Rew and it then picks up where it was supposed to before the static
blast. The Pi I built has never missed a beat. With my Duet controller
it's no change for the wife, which is great as she knows how to use the
controller even though she has Orange Squeeze on her phone.

Main system - Rock Solid with LMS 7.9.1 Official on WHS 2011 - 2 Duets
and Squeeseslave
Cabin system - Rock solid with LMS 7.9.1 Official on Win10 Pro - 1 RPi 3
Model B/Hifiberry DAC+ Pro/PiCorePlayer and Squeezeslave
Headphones and car - Android phone/Bluetooth w/full library on MicroSD
card - PowerAmp music player app (similar to Material Skin)

Re: [slim] Secondhand market

2019-10-20 Thread Kid Audio

I recently picked up a duet with all accessories that was posted on this
site for the cost of shipping which turned out to be around $15 US.
About the touch for CDN$ 1,341.40. Is that Monopoly money?

Re: [slim] Secondhand market

2019-10-20 Thread chill

Of course, I should say that in no way do I think that it's the
beginning of the end for the Squeezebox ecosystem. Quite the opposite -
the server software, the plugins, the supported hardware and the new
devices are such that the ecosystem has never been in better shape. I
just get the impression that the original hardware's days are numbered.
If only Logitech could add LMS support to a few more quality devices (in
addition to the other more prosaic connectivity options).

Like many on here I guess, I regularly trawl eBay for used Squeezebox
hardware. I'm pretty sure that the number of items for sale has
increased quite significantly in recent months. Is it just me?

Booms in good condition are still fetching good money, but sad-to-say,
most other devices seem to be losing value quite quickly. It makes the
BNIB Touch that I bought for emergencies when they went out of
production seem like an unwise purchase (especially since I've retired
my main Touch in favour of a Raspberry Pi and a Joggler screen)!

I've even managed to bag a SLIMP3 today for silly money - I've wanted
one of those for a long time, and there seemed to be little competition
for this particular one.

So is this a golden period for Squeezebox fans looking to stock up, or
the beginning of the end for the traditional hardware? Discuss :-)

Re: [slim] Live365 app error 404

2019-10-20 Thread pbroughton

A station that I listened to for years change services to Live365. I
have SoundBridge radios (from the old days) that only work with
URLs. I emailed Live365 support and asked for a url for the station I
wanted, and received a reply.

As an example, this:

http://streaming.live365.com/a79535

the a79535 is the station ID for my station. Of course, this works on
Squeezeboxes, too.

You might want to try this.

phb (3 Booms, 2 SB3, 1 Rec'vr, 2 Controllers, 2xTouch, 2 Radios (1UE),
iPeng : itouch & iPad, Squeezepad, 2 SoundBridge R1000s)

Discovering this... This is quite cool and would be a great solution for
stations that are not broadcasted anymore by Tunein. If only I was a
developper... :-)
