Thanks - I don’t at the moment, but haven’t updated lately. Will check
tomorrow.

Hi Paul - I use your Radio France plug-in, and wondered if you could
tell me the simplest way to get thise stations back. Would the radio.net
plugin sort it? If your plugin still worked that would be a bonus, but I
can cope if it doesn’t! Thanks!

Before doing Radio.net plugin , I looked at Community radio browser
https://www.radio-browser.info/gui/#!/ and did some random searches and
was not impressed by the results. IIRC Looked for HLS station - huge
number of chinese entries most didn't work and from other searches many
other entries which were badly/incorrectly categorised. I got the
feeling (maybe incorrectly) quality control was lacking

Thanks guys! It has happened. https://wiki.slimdevices.com is in
read-only mode. I'm sure there are some issues navigating around it. But
oh well... let's hope Google does index it well :-)

Re: [slim] TuneIn and removal of non-UK stations for UK listeners

2020-09-15 Thread Paul Webster

There would be a few criteria ...
- price (I suspect TuneIn is free to SlimDevices/Logitech) but other
such as Reciva (old name), Tunein (the other one) and a small number of
others ... are not free for official integration)

- coverage

- extra functionality (logos, Now Playing cover art, podcasts)

- available API (much better than parson HTML that is subject to change
at the whim of a web developer)

- available code

All of this leads me to think that the bpa implementation of radio.net
is a great starting point. I don't think it addresses all of the points
above but it is a good start and others can be worked around to some
degree via other plugins

Plus ... from the radio.net FAQ
"Some years ago, an integration for Logitech Squeezebox existed which,
unfortunately, cannot be supported anymore."
which implies to me that they would not be against such support coming
back (Sonos has official integration).

That looks interesting but (judging by the website) also looks a bit
outdated. The good thing about TuneIn is that you rarely find a station
that doesn't actually exist. I think you might do so here.

This is indeed an issue - is there an alternative Directory Service that
has similar coverage and which won't be affected by any future court
ruling? What do you suggest Paul?

[slim] TuneIn and removal of UK stations

2020-09-15 Thread Paul Webster

I mentioned the UK court case a few months ago ... and now the expected
consequence ... TuneIn hiding non-UK stations from UK listeners.

https://radiotoday.co.uk/2020/09/international-radio-stations-now-restricted-on-tunein/

There are work-arounds - for example using the radio.net plugin from bpa

However, some of the functionality in LMS/mysqueezebox relies on data
from TuneIn so perhaps the time is coming to look at making LMS able to
use an alternative station directory service for those functions.
If it only affects UK listeners then I can easily understand that this
would not be a priority. If Sony and others decide to go through the
legal system in other countries and TuneIn do not find a technical
solution Gp then this may well become more important.
