Re: [slim] SqueezePlay install

2009-11-14 Thread DLORDE

I was using nightly build 7.4.

The problem was that the wizard just wouldn't let me continue or
escape. Eventually, I killed it and restarted it, and it seems to run OK
- except that it doesn't find the Squeezebox Server on the same machine,
and can't seem to access any online music...

Now I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it (7.4), but still don't see
my library. The 'Internet Radio', 'Apps', etc. options just hang
indefinitely trying to connect to MySqueezebox.com, and I have to kill
and restart SqueezePlayer to try anything else.

I'll uninstall it and try version 7.5.

[slim] SqueezePlay install

2009-11-13 Thread DLORDE

I downloaded the SqueezePlay-setup.exe for Windows, and ran it, and it's
brought up an install wizard that is stuck at:

Activate Account - Visit jive.squeezenetwork.com and enter your PIN to
connect to your account. Press the center button after you have entered
your pin. - this is followed by the player PIN.

I've visited jive.squeezenetwork.com, but I don't see where to enter
any PIN - I can log in to my account with my email and password, but I
don't understand what the SqueezePlay installer is asking, and it won't
let me continue past that point...

Can anyone explain?

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Duet - Wake on LAN problems

2008-10-21 Thread DLORDE

Yup, I get this as well. The controller regularly gets 'stuck'
connecting to Squeezebox, connecting to the network, trying to select
tracks, and when I do select music with the controller, the first 30
secs or so of each track (even on a playlist) are interrupted by
(presumably) buffering silences. This doesn't happen using the
Squeezebox remote, Harmony remote, PC or Nokia N810, so I rarely use
the controller now :-(

The network signal is strong, and I have increased the buffering time
for tracks, but to no avail.

Re: [slim] Duet Remote permanently 'Copying Update'

2008-08-04 Thread DLORDE

Sorry for not explaining the fix - as finnbrodersen said, it was just a
question of powering off then powering on again. I just had the same
problem again, and it took me a while to remember what I did last
time!

It would be nice if the update could power off the device when it
finishes, or at least display a reminder...

[slim] Duet Remote permanently 'Copying Update'

2008-06-16 Thread DLORDE

Title says it all really.

The Duet remote has been working OK, but when I turned it on over the
weekend, the it said it wanted to install new software, which would
take 'a few minutes'. After several hours of it 'Copying Update', I
pressed the 'Home' button and got the 'Upgrade Failed' screen, saying
there was a problem upgrading. I checked that it could see the network
and that it was connected, and tried again. Same result.

The problem is that now it can see the network, but can't see any
players - although they're visible and operable from SqueezeCenter and
a different remote.

All I see on the 'Home' screen is 'Settings', 'Extras', and 'Choose
Player', but I can't choose a player.

What is the next step to fix the remote?

[slim] Duet - change receiver name

2008-04-16 Thread DLORDE

I just bought a Duet combo to go with my existing Squeezebox. By
default, the Duet receiver is named 'Squeezebox', the same as my old
one, so I want to rename it to avoid confusion. When I used the
controller settings menu to enter the new name, and hit the centre
button to set it, as instructed, it just reverted back to
'Squeezebox'...

I've tried this several times with no success - it should be really
easy, but how should it be done?

Re: [slim] Duet - change receiver name

2008-04-16 Thread DLORDE

OK - I managed it through SqueezeCenter, but not through the
controller...

Incidentally, whenever I use the controller to check for a software
update, it *always* says there is new software and will download and
install it - even though it's the same version. Is this a known bug?

[slim] Change SlimServer port?

2008-02-09 Thread DLORDE

Is it possible to change the SlimServer port from 9000 to something
else? If so, how is it done?

I have VPN SecureClient software which blocks or occupies port 9000.

Thanks

Re: [slim] Radio Paradise

2007-01-31 Thread DLORDE

If you play the Octoshape station of choice in WinAmp or WindowsMedia
(or equivalent player), you can grab the Octoshape plugin URL for that
station from the player and paste it directly into the SlimServer Tune
In URL, then save as a playlist. I haven't tried playing Octoshape
streams with SB3, but it's fine for SoftSqueeze.

Re: [slim] Vista and DRM - Important read

2007-01-31 Thread DLORDE

As has already been said, audio and video degradation only applies to
protected content. However, as I understand it, there are other aspects
of Vista 'security' - also part of the DRM requirements - such as
hardware anomaly checking, that load the system at all times, causing a
significant performance degradation.

This is particularly annoying to potential users like me, who have no
intention of using their PC for playing protected content, and would
prefer a system that allows such features to be disabled, or better
still, a system that doesn't have them at all.

If I play protected content, it will be on a dedicated box, not a
general purpose PC.

[slim] Re: Poll: What is your library size and hardware

2006-05-29 Thread DLORDE

My music library contains 323 albums with 4116 songs by 608 artists.

Hosted on a Dell Dimension XPS running WinXP SP2, 3Ghz dual core
Pentium processor, 2.5GB RAM, ~500GB HD storage. SlimServer 6.2.2,
SqueezeBox.

Lookin for a stand-alone wireless music server to get the full
collection on, but prices are a little high atm.

Currently listening to SomaFM Presents: Groove Salad @128k from Slim
Devices Picks. Not hi-fi, but very soothing :-)
