Re: [slim] Announce: Whitebear Media Server v2.2 Released
Is it possible to customize the names of the Whitebear server and renderers? I don't like that it adds '(by Whitebear)' to the names. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released
I'm new to Android, got SqueezeCommander a couple of days ago, just bought Orange Squeeze today too. It's nice! Shows a lot of promise, does it support linking players? I appreciate the options for removing the title bar and now playing controls during search/browse, as I have a Wildfire, which only has a small screen. Have yet to test the mute during call feature, but that sounds great - just yesterday I answered the phone with 'hold on a sec whilst I pause the music'. I like the fact that it takes on more of a native Android/Gingerbread look than SqueezeCommander, although I think the brown/orange theming in places is a bit ugly. Same goes for the player controls, they could look better I think. Also, when I press menu and the menu with switch player, server, prefs, etc. comes up, there is a small black box visible around each of the icons - it ruins the transparency effect. Not meant to offend of course, it's intended purely as constructive criticism! -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92330 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Let's make the Squeezebox to the ultimate music discovery device!
Great thread! I have a couple of ideas/answers: I too love muso for its album-oriented approach; I tend to play only albums. Some better logic (or custom tag) for detecting albums and discarding singles would be good (e.g. 'Tubular Bells' has only two (very long) tracks, but it's an album, some 'maxi' singles have 8-9 tracks, but they're singles, not albums). I nearly always find what I want by searching (Google generation, clicking is too slow...), so fast search is a must (it already is, I suppose), and I love the way Squeezebox currently returns artists, albums, etc., not just tracks, so I can search for 'X' and then go directly to play the album containing 'X', or the track, or whatever. I guess I'm saying search is already good, but don't forget to make it better! I like to play music from an artist I'm going to see a few days before the gig, so with some social integration (e.g. SongKick, Last.fm), perhaps Squeezebox could do things like say 'hey, you're going to see these guys soon, want to listen to them?' (if I have their music already, or otherwise let me buy it or whatever). Finally, this one is a bit vague, but perhaps some kind of remote 'info display' -- for example, I have Squeezebox 2s and control them using IR remote, phone app or my laptop. If the Squeezebox had a video out, it would be cool for it to display on my TV a now playing screen with things like cover art and metadata (more than can be scrolled on the SB2 display, for example). Obviously the Squeezeboxes don't have video out, but what if the TV were attached to the server? Or if the server could send this now playing info to a remote media streamer (I have an Xtreamer attached to the TV) or something? -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80910 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Analogue VU and Replaygain
Did anything ever happen with this bug? I notice the digital VU meters on my SB2 don't go as high when listening to music with ReplayGain tags. I've added my vote to the bug. -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27975 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Not playing and no output
I have a problem with my SB2 (firmware 125) that I have seen described a few times in the forums: It does not play, the timer and progress bar do not advance, and no music comes out, although it says 'now playing'. The web page reports the timer is advancing, but usually at some point near the end of the song it will stick in a loop, jumping back every 5 seconds or so. This happens with internet streams, too, it says buffering very briefly (gets to different percentages, 27%, 83%, I never see it say 99% or 100%) and the VU meters (if on) flicker on, then freeze. It switches to the title of the stream, but it is not playing anything. The most common remedy suggested is to reprogram the Xilinx chip, but this doesn't solve it for me. I've tried that and factory resetting many times. Anyone got any advice? Is it dead hardware? -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63524 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Not playing and no output
For anyone interested, I've solved my own problem now - turned out to be a loose connection on the corner pin of one of those 74HU (or whatever it is) inverter chips by the coaxial S/PDIF connector - I had removed a superregulator from it and not made the connection back to the mainboard properly. -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63524 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

However, when I hold 0 again, it doesn't un-mute, it shows a large negative number again. I have to increase the volume from 0 dB to get the volume back. Anyone else see this? It also doesn't work in Now Playing as I have the TrackStat plugin installed, which uses 0.hold to un-rate a track. -- IMGrant IMGrant's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14921 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
