Re: [slim] Connect MacMini direct to a SB3
to reaffirm and add to what has already been posted; You will need to manually set the IP address on both the Mac Mini and the SB3. [slim] time to reorganize forums
Another user asked the question of there why isn't there a separate Transporter subforum, http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65280, and I can see there is a need for forum reorganization to enhance the value of this great forum. At a high level I suggest this type of structure; Category - forum * subforums * subforums My first cut General - announcements - presales - feedback * feature requests (direction to the bug tracking/feature request system) - marketplace - system photos - music Support - FAQs - hardware * pre SB2/3 * SB2/SB3 * Duet * SBReceiver * SBController * SBBoom * Transporter - software * SqueezeCenter * UNIX/Linux * Windows * Apple * NAS e.g. QNAP, Netgear, Buffalo Linkstation * add-ins/plugins * SqueezeNetwork Ripping/Encoding/Transcoding/Tagging Music Services * Rhapsody * Napster * MusicIP * Slacker * Pandora Other languages - Español - Deutsch - Français Beta Developer - beta SC releases * 7.4 * 8.0 - developers - SqueezeOS software platform. I am sure there are thoughts others will have though the important issue is if Logitech SMBU is willing to undertake the effort to implement a new structure as it will require active moderation to keep threads in the most appropriate place. -- Kiwi SB3 Classic, SB Controller, SB Receiver, 2 x SB Boom, ? Re: [slim] Ceiling Speakers to Connect to Squeezebox Receiver
You are correct in understanding that you need either powered speakers or an amp between a SBR and passive speakers. If you search these forums you will see posts about very efficient digital amplifiers that are as small, or smaller, than a SBR. These would work well for your application and wouldn't have to be managed as you would set the volume of the amp when you install it, then control music volume with the SBC. There are a few forum posts that ask Slimdevices/Logitech to consider making a device that has an integrated amp that you can directly attach passive speakers to but there is no feedback to determine if this is being considered. Sonos and Cisco/Linksys offer devices that do this so market place realities may drive them to a decision. I know that I would be very interest in a SB3 (Classic) with an integrated, highly efficient, amp. -- Kiwi Kiwi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2169 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62190 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

MeSue;394287 Wrote: Wow... really? I can go months without ever opening the WHS console, but my web browser is open all day every day. But if it was there it wouldn't matter to me. I'd just go on using it the way I have been--through the browser. Using the console to see if it is running and to stop and start it would be useful since that is not provided in the WebUI. Maybe an option to change the port SC uses, since SC conflicts with the port that PV Connect uses on HP MediaSmart servers. But I think that is in the WebUI already. I completely agree with MeSue, the only capabilities to put in the WHS console are those that can't be done with the browser interface for SqueezeCenter. So far I have read these; 1. Installation of SC 2. Stopping and starting the service 3. Status of service 4. Changing the HTTP port There may be some more that folks can come up with but let's keep development resources focused on the common interface for all platforms by using the browser interface. -- Kiwi Kiwi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2169 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59433 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
