[slim] Re: Duplicated track entries when using playlists - POSSIBLE SOLUTION

2006-02-20 Thread Olaf

I had problems with duplicated tracks, too. When I imported new CDs,
recently, the related album seemed to contain each track twice. This
was not the case in former times. My actual configuration is:

SlimServer Version: 6.2.1 - 5157 - Mac OS X 10.4.5 (8H14) - DE - utf8

I had SlimServer configured to use iTunes (6.0.2 in the meantime), but
also filled in an entry for the path to the music files:
/Users/Shared/Daten/Musik, which is my iTunes music folder, too. I'm
almost sure, I needed this entry in former times, but maybe the
behaviour of SlimServer or iTunes has been changed or whatever. When I
cleaned up the path to the music files and did a rescan of the music
library, the double entries were gone.

Ok, I get it. I did not realize that somehow I can control my SB2 in SN mode

SN page when my SB2's on SN. Hm...

I guess what I am saying is that the SN offering should come via the normal SS

[slim] More wireless problems with new SB2

2005-11-01 Thread Olaf
Hi,

2 days ago I picked up one of the last SB2s, replaced my SB1, powered it up,
told it all about my WLAN and off it went playing music. Walk in the park.

Or so I thought.

This was the first and last time this new SB2 would connect to my WLAN. I
have tried everything - no joy. My story goes like half-a-dozen others on
this board:

o Good signal strength
o Easily picks up my SSID - but won't connect (to the beam, never mind DHCP).
o The firewall on the router/AP is OFF, ie no MAC filtering.
o I have another SB2. Same f/w (15), identical config. No problems with
that one.
o I use WEP. Since there's so many other wireless devices beaming around my
place, I cannot readily reconfig WEP w/o upsetting family so have not tried
w/o encryption. Trust me, though, that WEP key's spot-on.
o I use 3com 3CRWDR100A - spent 2 (!) hours coaxing latest f/w upgrade onto
box. No difference. Arrgh!
o Tried various channels, again: no difference.
o Incidentally, this also implies that rebooting router makes no difference
on SB2 hooking up (some other victims managed to hook up on reboot).
o Plugged CAT5 into back to see whether there was life on Mars - played music
right away.
o Back to wireless - duff.
o Wireless SB1 is back in place, playing happily :(

I despair. Any other pointers?

Thanks - ovr.

This is probably because that a number of the BBC streaming urls changed
recently. If you re-add the new addresses to your m3u file then these
should play again. (note the playing of these streams is done through
AlienBBC and not natively in Slimserver).

Agreed. I have Alien installed. My troubles with the BBC are well documented

There are no problems with the BBC URLs this time, mind. I went back to

gonna touch 6.2 till someone tells me that the m3u/BBC mess is sorted out.

Don't remove the card. If it has two of the small gold antenna
connectors, just try moving the black antenna cable to the other one.

There aren't any other compatible wireless cards that would give
 different performance.

Another attempt at posting this reply (GMANE appears temperamental at times):

I tried the trick with reconnecting the antenna cable - no joy. Is the
wireless interface not the same as in the SB2? I never opened that box but if
it uses a similar but better card, could I not ask SlimDevices to send me one
of those? The SB2 does not suffer from the same poor wireless reception as
the SB1.

fraction out of time which each other. This doesn't happen when playing
archive/Listen Again programmes. Incidentally, the live stream is also
noticeably quieter (and muffled) than the Listen Again streams.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

Not yet, but we do plan on adding some settings synchronization
between SlimServer and SqueezeNetwork in a future release.

I hope readers won't mind my hi-jacking Dave's thread, but I would like to
expand on this a little:

I was (am) very impressed with SqueezeNetwork. But I am also one who likes to
drive his SB from an iPAQ (I know the SB's display's brilliant but me
eyesight's not what it used to be). And I don't like the (lack of)
integration between SlimServer and SqueezeNetwork, the fact that players which
are logged in to SqueezeNetwork vanish completely from SlimServer's radar.

I understand that the point of SqueezeNetwork is to provide feeds in the
absence of a SlimServer. It's just that mine's forever present and I'd
appreciate if the two offerings could be integrated beyond a simple exchange
of preferences.

Bottom line: I'd like to be able to browse SqueezeNetwork from my iPAQ.

[slim] song-info gone since v6.0b1?

I wonder, if this is a known bug or if it's caused by some
misconfiguration of my Slim Server (on Mac G4 Cube with Mac OS X 10.3.8
running):

Since v6.0b1 it's still possible to remote control the Squeezebox via
Salling Clicker (with mobile phone), but the phone display shows a
message No device found and no info about song etc. at all, altough
you can fast forward, stop etc.
Also, it' s not possible to display the status of the Squeezebox
(played song and artist) in iChat via iChatStatus-AppleScript.

Moreover, there seems to be some trouble with SlimServMon since v6.0b
(found a posting on the web)

I looked at the event protocol of the AppleScript. The script does the
following: It tells the shell to connect to the specific player

curl -u Quetsche:Radio -i
http://192.168.42.2:9000/status.txt?player=00:04:20:05:23:02

and tries to read the currently played song and artist name out of the
answer of the slimserver. But the answer ist simply:

Expires: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT
