[slim] Minor irritation: change in SB3 behaviour when server sleeps
Up until recently, whenever I put my PC to sleep, or when it fell asleep on its own after an hour of no activity, my Squeezebox would also go to sleep, i.e. the clock would disappear and the display would go blank. About three weeks ago this behaviour changed. Now when the PC goes to sleep the Squeezebox complains that it can't connect to SqueezeCenter, tells me to press the left arrow to try again etc, before going to sleep when I ignore it. This is, as I said, just a minor irritation: it still wakes the PC up when necessary, and in every other way works fine. I just wondered if I've done something to cause it, and if, so, how I fix it. I'm not sure if this started happening when I upgraded to SqueezeCenter 7.3 or as a result of something as yet unknown. My memory's sketchy about the actual date I upgraded, and something in the back of my mind tells me it started happening before. I also changed to the Snow secreensaver for the Christmas period, and thought maybe that might have been when it started, but it's still doing it now that I've changed back to Date and Time. Something else in the back of my head tells me it did this when I first got it, but if so I've no idea what I did to fix it. My next step will probably be to roll back to 7.2 but I'm hoping someone here will save me the bother by pointing out something blindingly obvious that I've missed. -- Ronnyjoz Ronnyjoz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57552 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

At least you got a reply. I've been waiting three days now and all I've had is an automated reply saying they'll reply within twenty-four hours :( -- Ronnyjoz Ronnyjoz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54280 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] New shortcuts placed in my music folder point straight back to my music folder!

I do still have albumns listed multiple times with different numbers of tracks (sometimes only one track), and all the albums have the wrong artwork, but both those issues existed before. I can keep digging till I work that one out. Re: [slim] New shortcuts placed in my music folder point straight back to my music folder!
That's basically what I did by creating a folder on the desktop. Any shortcuts I create just point to the folder they're in. Copies of windows-created shortcuts work fine. Would it be worth clearing the cache? If so, do I delete the entire cache folder ('C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\Cache')or just its contents? -- Ronnyjoz Ronnyjoz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] New shortcuts placed in my music folder point straight back to my music folder!
I've tried all methods: right-dragging the destination folder into the Music folder and Choosing 'Create shortcuts here'; right-clicking inside the Music folder and using the New Shortcut wizard to browse to the destination; copying the shortcut that does work and then editing it to point somewhere else. I've just tried your suggestion of creating the shortcut within the destination folder and then moving it. None of the above work. I have discovered something new, however. If I create a folder within the Public folder and put music files in there, any shortcuts pointing to that folder work fine. So it looks like another one of those annoying and incomprehensible Vista permissions issues. Looking at the properties for the Sims2\Music folder it doesn't look any different to any folder that works - it has full permissions for everyone. I've also tried making it a shared folder but that still doesn't work. For any music files located anywhere within the 'C:\Users\Ronny' directory, pointing a shortcut at them doesn't work. they have to be in the folder that SqueezeCenter is pointed at. -- Ronnyjoz Ronnyjoz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] New shortcuts placed in my music folder point straight back to my music folder!
OK, if I run SqueezeCenter as a task instead of a service, it works fine. This adds fuel to my theory that it's some kind permissions thing. This'll do me for now. I only ran it as a service in the first place to take advantage of the Wake on LAN feature, which doesn't work anyway as it turns out. If and when they come up with a new firmware version that allows the computer to sleep, by either disconnecting or automatically switching to SqueezeNetwork, rather than immediately waking the PC up again, then I might approach this problem again. In the meantime I'll manually log in if I want to listen to my PC-based library. Thanks for your suggestions. -- Ronnyjoz Ronnyjoz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
