Re: [slim] What if Logitech pulls the plug
With regard to worrying about what will become of the Squeezebox product line and the reasons behind this, surely it all comes down to investment? The purchase of an £80 box to stream media to the TV requires little invested in either time or money; if the product line is discontinued by the time it breaks several years down the road you buy another one from another brand that does nominally the same thing, and you have had your use out of it. The worry for me with my Squeezeboxen is that I have invested much more in time and money to set up a whole-house system consisting of many various interoperable devices. The software seems to work well for me so I should be fine if this were never updated, but eventually the hardware will stop working and what do I do if it can't be directly replaced? Do I have to start from scratch with a completely different system at significant investment or do I limp along with a partially working setup? Furthermore, and of more concern to Logitech and their bottom line, do I now invest any more in expanding the Squeezebox system that I have if I am worried that the range may be coming to an end? Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
OK guys, I seem to have got Squeezeplayer running of a fashion, but can seem to get either the desktop shortcut or the application skin working properly with large buttons and correctly sized artwork (still all small and in the top corner). It is sooo close to being usable! Could someone help out a ubuntu noob and post a disk image for the Joggler with all Squeezeplayer and all of the fixes and skins correctly installed, and a shortcut sat on the desktop? Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
OK, Joggler on its way, 'joggler_unr_9.10_v1.3a.bin.tar.gz' downloaded, 4GB USB key at the ready... How do I 'burn' the image from a W7 PC (never used linux, and no linux boxes available to me), and then how do I get the Joggler to boot from it? Finally, once the Joggler has booted into ubuntu, do I just install SqueezePlay onto it as normal? Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
OK, help needed. Joggler here and I have it booting into ubuntu and SqueezePlay installed, but how do I copy and paste text into the terminal from Chrome so that I copy in the text for the exit fix, and the desktop shortcut, etc? I can get the browser to show the text, but I can only move the view about by poking it... I just wanna select the text so that I can copy it! Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
OK then, So I was waiting for an Android-based tablet to use as a remote for my SqueezeBoxen, but now that the Joggler is back down to £50, I am sorely tempted; I just need some advice: Bearing in mind that I have no experience of installing any flavour of linux, how easy is it to get the Joggler into a state where it can run SqueezePlay? Once up and running, can the Joggler be used solely as a remote for the SqueezeBoxen that I already have (which is what I want), or does it just become another player attached to the network? With Ubuntu and SqueezePlay installed, would I have to reinstall the original OS and drivers to be able to use the hardware as a Joggler again, or is it possible to jump back and forth between SqueezePlay and Joggler functionality? Although very cheap for a touchscreen remote, I am just trying to decide if a more expensive future Android product would be much neater and nicer to use with SqueezePlay as an app that sits on it rather than having to install a whole new OS to get partial functionality. Many thanks Dave, I have just ordered one! Is there an idiots guide with what I would need to download and from where to get this running? Re: [slim] OpenFrame remote for SB?
Ah, yes, I was just about to post about the Vega! I think I might wait for this as it might be a little more expensive, but T-Mobile are trying to compete with the Joggler so that should keep the price down. And native support for the Squeezebox Android app! Re: [slim] I am leaving Logitech!
Just to chime in with the same mixture of thanks and sadness! Congratulations on producing such a great series of products, and good luck with whatever you decide to try next. I just hope that the squeezebox team at Logitech can keep up your good work, and continue to innovate in this area. Re: [slim] Update Duet Controller as remote for your amp, now with volume control
Can this be easily installed on a NAS? Specifically, I am using a ReadyNAS Duo to run SqueezeCenter and have only ever installed plugins using the web interface. Also, can anyone tell me the correct IR commands for Musical Fidelity pre-amps? Re: [slim] Use Duet Controller as remote for your amp.
Hi guys, Great work on accessing the functionality of the IR sender on the Controller, I think that some of the possibilities that this opens up are quite exciting! I was just wondering if the volume behaviour could be set dependant on the device that you are controlling? For example, I have an SB3 connected up to my main hifi and when I am controlling that I would like the volume controls to send the correct IR commands to my Musical Fidelity pre-amp (and just give a Vol+ or Vol- notification on the screen as it obviously cannot know what level the volume is set to), but I also have a Boom in the kitchen and would like to keep the current volume control method. Re: [slim] SB Duet connected with external DAC
I think that this is a bug. I have the same problem with my external DAC, and with the previous version of SqueezeCenter (7.1) you could turn off the outputs when the SB was turned off. From 7.2 onwards, this does not seem to work (even though there is an option for it in the software). It is not such a problem for me as I can manually switch my DAC's inputs, but it would be nice to see it fixed. File a bug report and hopefully it will get looked at. Re: [slim] Artwork resizing - could it be managed better?
Hi guys, This might be a stupid question, and I apologise if it is, but could we not have the option of resizing/resampling album artwork offline on a proper PC? I have a ReadyNAS and a Controller, and it would be really nice to just let your (hopefully much more powerfull) PC perform all of the hard work, and dump the results into the ReadyNAS's cache file. Re: [slim] Controller - what plans for extended IR control?
I am in exactly the same boat, the only use for my current hi-fi remote is to control the volume/mute my preamp. Would be great to be able to do this via the Controllers IR and be able to lose another remote in the process! As I also have a several other SqueezeBox devices, and it would be great for the Controller to be able to recognise which use IR for the volume and which don't when switching between them (and for the ones that do just have a 'Volume Up' 'Volume Down' icon on the display rahter than the volume bar).
