Thanks Peter! So would you recommend "That Famous Auction Website" to

I have a made-in-USA Slim Devices SB3 I bought in 2006 that is in

packaging.
It's just been sitting in my closet unused for years ... is it worth

[slim] SqueezePlay no longer plays from MyMusic library

2012-06-29 Thread USAudio

When I fire up SqueezePlay anymore I can no longer access/play from
MyMusic library.
However, I CAN access Radio with SqueezePlay.

What's odd is I can successfully access/play from MyMusic library from
my SqueezeBox Classic and Touch.

I installed the latest version to try to resolve the issue, still no
go.
I've used SqueezePlay for many years with no issues so this is a new
issue, not sure what triggered the problem though.

Any suggestions?

Per this post:

The ports on my server were opened but I had to re-Add my Library.
Not sure what happened as the server IP address hasn't changed, but it
works fine now.

[slim] Wyred4Sound 32 bit digital volume control ?

2011-03-31 Thread USAudio

I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around the workings of the 32 bit
digital volume control of the Wyred4Sound DAC-2:
http://www.wyred4sound.com/webapps/site/74030/117839/shopping/shopping-view.html?pid=457975b_id=find_groupid=18157

- If I feed the DAC-2 a 24bit music stream, it is upconverted to
32bits, which then gives us 8bits (48db) of possible digital
attentuation BEFORE loss of resolution from the original 24bits?

- However, doesn't digital attentuation only lower the signal, not the
noise, so the S/N ratio is smaller?

 you're running SqueezeCenter is. ...
Thanks for the feedback!

I've tested converting and playing some individual AIFF tracks on my
SB3 and had no dropout issues, so I believe I'm fine there. Also, this
Mac Mini's sole purpose in life is to be a SC Music Server so that also
should not prove to be a problem either.

Sounds like I'm good to go ... now to start the lengthy conversion
process ...

I've been running the conversion process from Apple Lossless to AIFF
using iTunes for awhile now and keep running into a (-208) Unknown

I don't see anything obvious about the songs that would cause the

Anyone else experience this or have any idea on how to resolve it?
I guess I'll just have to re-rip those songs directly to AIFF from CD

Well, it sometimes took multiple tries but I was finally able to re-rip
the problem songs into AIFF. There may be some kind of obscure iTunes
bug there but I appear to be back in business with my entire iTunes

Thanks to all for your responses.

[slim] Apple Lossless - AIFF ... gotchas?

2009-10-14 Thread USAudio

I miss not being able to seek (FWD, REW) on a track with my SB3 so I
plan on converting my entire collection in iTunes (OSX) from Apple
Lossless to AIFF. When completed I plan on deleting all the Apple
Lossless versions.

Before I do so, are there any gotchas I may not be aware of?

- Files are larger but I have plenty of disk space.
- AIFF retains tags just like Apple Lossless, correct?
- Other issues?

I spent many many hours ripping a good portion of my collection from CD
... am I going to regret this or should I just go for it?!

Any comments or words of wisdom appreciated.
Thanks!

2) I see there's a Signature Series Squeezebox Classic that is

does that mean there's something new about to come out to replace it???

[slim] SB3 + Controller or Duet ?

2009-02-19 Thread USAudio

I have an SB3 which I purchased in Nov 2006. The unit has and continues
to work flawlessly. I use an outboard DAC and NOT the SB3's internal
DAC.

I'd like to have the Squeezebox Controller but at $299 USD and with the
Duet only $100 more at $399 ... Is it worth it to just get the Duet?

At this time I don't have a need for 2 SqueezeBox Receivers but does
the Duet Receiver offer some features or improvements that my SB3
doesn't to make getting the Duet worth the extra $100?

Thanks

Hi Tyler,
Do you have the latest version of the Blazer browser? If I do a google
search on Blazer page caching, it seems that it was a feature added in
2006 or so and that there are settings to adjust cache size, etc. You
might check your settings to see if you get any improvement.
e.g. Here's where the settings are to clear the
cache:http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=11,E=00721166202,K=4653,Sxi=0,Case=Obj(9830)#tx
Maybe there's a setting in there to turn caching on for you.

2007-09-10 Thread USAudio

After doing some searching here, I see a few folks have had some limited
success using the Palm TX to control SlimServer:
http://www.palm.com/us/products/handhelds/tx/index.html

It seems that Palm has updated their browser to cache pages to offer
better performance, has anyone used it recently? How was the
performance controlling SlimServer using the SlimServer handheld skin?
e.g. http://192.168.1.2:9000/Handheld/

Also, the Palm TX has a decent infrared port, has anyone used the Palm
TX with the NoviiRemote universal remote control software to control
the rest of your system???
http://www.novii.tv/palm/deluxe/

Seems like the combination of the Palm TX with the SlimServer Handheld
skin AND the Novii software would be a great combination and all that
for less than the price of the Sonos remote everyone raves about.
(The Palm TX has a bigger screen and is overall a much smaller unit as
well: http://www.sonos.com/products/controller/specs.htm )

Re: [slim] Connection timed out ?

2007-03-26 Thread USAudio

I use McAfee and don't see any such option setup? I have this issue
even if the machine isn't really being utilized for anything else.
It seems as if the song is being buffered properly by the SqueezeBox3
as if I hit play immediately after the time messages appears, the song
starts immediately playing.
From that point onward, the unit operates normally.

[slim] Connection timed out ?

2007-03-23 Thread USAudio

Every time I turn on my SqueezeBox3, navigate to a song and try to play
that first song the unit pauses and then displays Connection timed
out. However, if I then just hit Play the song starts playing
immediately and from then on the unit operates normally .

Is this a problem maybe with the SlimServer not waking up properly or
something else?

I've had this problem since day 1 and have just ignored it as it's not
too big of a deal but if there's a solution, I'd love to hear it!

SqueezeBox 3
SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 11206 - Windows XP

Thanks!

[slim] Re: Introducing..... me!

2007-01-25 Thread USAudio

Hi Jim,
Product suggestion: I'd love to see a new mid-market player from Slim
Devices, positioned between the SqueezeBox and Transporter as described
here:

Thanks for your consideration.

[slim] Re: Fast Forwarding not working. Ideas?

2007-01-17 Thread USAudio

Thanks ceejay, unchecking AIFF - FLAC did the trick. It didn't FF or
REW very smoothly and so I've decided it really isn't a high priority,
so I think I'll just stick with Apple Lossless with no FF/REW ability.

Just to experiment, I also unchecked Apple Lossless - FLAC to see what
would happen and as expected FF and REW still didn't work with Apple
Lossless files but there was also a noticable pop between tracks.

So I've returned everything back to the way it was and all is well
again. Life is full of compromises!

Thanks again.

[slim] Fast Forwarding not working. Ideas?

2007-01-16 Thread USAudio

I use iTunes and have all my tracks ripped using the Apple Lossless
format and from what I understand I cannot use the Fast Forward or
Rewind functionality of the SB3's remote with that format.

However, even if I rip tracks in AIFF or WAV formats, the Fast Forward
and Rewind functions using the SB3 remote still isn't working for me
with tracks in those formats either...

Any suggestions?

[slim] Re: Fast Forwarding not working. Ideas?

2007-01-16 Thread USAudio

Thanks ceejay. I think I'm confused as to what is really going on there
with those settings ... why is the same format selected multiple times?
How does the SlimServer then decide which one to use? Aren't we just
telling SlimServer which format to convert the file TO before it is
streamed to the SqueezeBox?
