Excellent advice from garym - then your upgrade route is just DACs
thereafter - I have Naim amps and use a Pi3 with PiCoreplayer and a
HiFiBerry Digi+Pro into a fairly basic Cambridge Audio DAC, sounds
amazing

Just a quick follow up to the above. I see the Naim MP3 stream now picks
up metadata but not the FLAC stream. It'd be great if someone who
understand such things can give us a plugin to fix this

Also, from the Naim discussion group

[slim] Podcasts - sync / play at home

2018-08-18 Thread jeremy

I subscribe to a load of podcasts on my Android phone which I play in
the car or via headphones when I'm out and about. I'd like to be able to
play them on my Squeezebox devices at home and be synced so that I can
restart podcast playlist where I left off etc

I've tried various phone apps which claim to emulate Airplay but without
success. I cannot root my phone as various other things would stop
working.

How do other folks use podcasts on Squeezeboxes?

Yes it can be headless, essentially that's what a receiver is (a player
without a screen). I think it should connect to LMS automatically (as
long as not password protected) Can you see it in your LMS web pages? If
so then all you need is a smartphone or tablet & you're away

Stay with LMS and get either a Squeezebox Touch (some new still to be

Either will leave you with plenty of change from a £1000 budget

Third option but without integral display - build a player Raspberry Pi
for c£120 and spend the rest on a tablet to use as controller display

I think the original problem is simply down to me copying the URL from

view that I'm generally not using other wireless connections when I'm

OK - can you prove your installation of slimserver and socketwrapper by
proving wma streams work. [as this should work out of the box with
slimserver and Alien relies on the same stuff] paste the flowing into
the internet radio web page: mms://vruk.wm.llnwd.net/vruk_vr_hi Do you
hear anything - what does the debug give?

[slim] AlienBBC Problem

2005-04-08 Thread Jeremy Baynham
Yes there is only one socketwrapper.exe, and I have tried manually
replacing it with the one in the 6.0.1 zip download, but to no avail...
- Original Message -
Hum - I would have expected error messages from socketwrapper for the
alien case. Could you do a search on your machine to ensure you only
have one version of socketwrapper.exe (the one that came with 6.0) ?

[slim] AlienBBC problem

2005-04-07 Thread Jeremy Baynham
Hi,
I am trying to get AlienBBC 0.97 to work on 6.0.1 on XP (the problem was
the same on 0.94 on 6.0 however). I can manually play the streams
through mplayer, and I see all the Alien UI in Slimserver but after 2
'Connecting...'s, nothing ever plays. From the log I can see an error

readlen undef: (Unknown error)10054
end of file or error on socket, opening next song, (song pos: 0(tell says: .
0), totalbytes: )
which I've not seen mentioned before in any of the recent threads on Alien
problems. Any clues out there?
Jeremy

Jermey,

Could you edit slimserver-convert.conf and change the #PIPE# to #DEBUGPIPE#
Then repost output with --d_source --d_remotestream enabled
Thanks.
