I don't know what level of detail you plan on going to in collecting variations but Transporters came in silver and black. Additionally, the earlier Transporters came with the 'Slim Devices' logo while the later Logitech ones simply said 'Transporter'. Re: [slim] RadioIO soundpass on Squeezecenter?
I just wantd to follow up on this. I seem to have 'solved' the problem but I can't say exactly WHY it works nor do I know if the solution will stick. From one of my Squeezeboxes, I tried deleting one of my RadioIO favorties (which was still playing the old commercial stream) and then went back through the menu (Internet RadioRadioIO, etc.) and tried to play the station and also to re-save it as a favorite. This did not work...I was still getting the commercial stream. Also, I noticed that when I went to RadioIO via the menu the first thing that would pop up under RadioIO was the mesaage to 'Go to RadioIO.com to sign up for a soundpass...'. However, I noticed that I did NOT get this message when in SN, only when in SC. So, on a lark, I went down to my PC and got into SC and started messing around. I went into 'Favorites' and deleted my RadioIO station favorite and then added it back by re-selecting it from the RadioIO menu. I noticed that when I clicked on the link that it gave me when I added it into favorties it was the stream with 'CF' (Commercial Free) in it. Sure enough, went back to both my Squeezeboxes and my Transporter and, viola, commercial free in SC. I have absolutely no idea why this worked but it did. We'll see if it sticks. I have never used Rhapsody before but am intrigued, particularly since we can now play it at 192kbps via the various SlimDevices products. Does a Rhapsody to Go (RTG) membership include the ability to actually download and own an unlimited number of tracks that are yours even if you cancel your memberhsip at some point? Or is purchasing an mp3 from Rhpasody something altogether different from the RTG service? In other words, I'm wondering if the RTG service only allows users to listen to tracks on their portable devices while one has an active Rhapsody membership and if they terminate their membership at some point the tracks expire. Re: [slim] best stand-alone seakers to connect a SB3 to?
I have the Audioengine A2's and like them a lot. I will say, however, that they can be boomy if not set up properly. As someone else mentioned, they need to be acoustically isolated to perform their best. Keep them as far away from rear walls as possible and try not to sit them directly on a shelf without some isolation under them or the shelf is going to act as a sounding board. I have mine on little dabs of BluTak which in turn sit on little felt pads that I had laying around (from Home Depot) so as to protect the shelf. Also, another thing to try - which I find works quite well - is the Inguz EQ plugin. As I have the A2's set up in my living room, I have an Inguz preset called (oddly enough) 'living room' that provides a slight rolloff in the bass. I simply leave that preset on all the time for the SB in the living room. I have noticed that since moving to SC7 about a month or two ago, it takes significantly longer for either of my Squeezeboxes or my Transporter to respond to a command from the remote when I first turn them on. For example, often times the first thing I do after powering them up is to hit the 'favorites' button. It now takes about 10 seconds for the SB or TP to respond whereas this rarely/never used to happen. This only happens on initial power up; after this initial delay it doesn't happen again. Re: [slim] No sound from Transporter
I called tech support. It turned out to need the xilinx reset. Someone did suggest that (above) and in my haste I only noticed the factory reset recommendation. Sorry 'bout that. Everything is working fine now. OK. I tried going back to SC 6.5.4 with firmware 31. Still no luck. CatBus;267927 Wrote: This has happened to me twice after a power outage. Unplug the device, plug it back in. Works fine. Yeah it's probably a bug. Tried that, too...several times. No luck. I don't know why but I have a sneaking suspicion that if I were to go back to SC 6.5 this problem might vanish. The fact that SC 7 doesn't have the RCA out on option makes me wonder. I didn't want to do this but I might try. SC 7 was working fine for at least a week so...what do I know? [slim] No sound from Transporter
I've been away for a couple of days. Came home today, turned on the Transporter, and...no sound! My amp is on, volume is up, Transporter works as usual (select song/album/favortite, etc.) and VU meters move but nothing. I know that SOMETHING can make its way out of the RCA jacks because when I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in I got the usual 'pop' through the speakers. Same problem described here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42659highlight=transporter+sound except, I don't have any setting on my menu for the RCA outputs. I'm running SC 7, firmware 36. Any ideas? [slim] Transporter knob degaussing?
I updated to SC7 over the weekend with Transporter firmware version 40. I've noticed that now I seem to be getting a slight buzzing noise from the TP itself several times per minute. It sounds to me like what others have described as the function knob degaussing itself. The thing is: I never had this noise before (or, if I did, it happened so infrequently that I never heard it). It's a bit annoying. Is there anything that can be done about it? Re: [slim] Quality of internet radio?
Thanks all. They do exist, but they are rare as it costs the station a bundle to send out higher bitrates. I'm curious...where's are the incremental costs incurred between, say, 128k and 192k? [slim] Quality of internet radio?
I'm wondering if there are ANY internet radio stations out there that broadcast above 128k. I've been loving internet radio since getting my Squeezeboxes but 128k is just borderline acceptable in terms of sound quality. I'd be willing to pay for a subscription to a service that transmits at higher bitrates but from what I've read, there don't seem to be any (perhaps I'm missing something). Any idea why this is? Is there no real demand for quality or is this a technology/bandwidth issue? [slim] Live Music Archive?
[Sorry...I posted this in 'Beginners' by accident. Should have put it here. Moderators feel free to delete the other thread.] __ Well, now that LMA is back up and running, I've discovered an issue (don't know if this is known or not). When playing a stream of a whole concert, sometimes the last 5-10 seconds of an individual song will be cut off, then it will just continue on to the next song. Has anyone else experienced this? Re: [slim] Music sounds better with you?
Is it just me? but I seem to enjoy listening to music more when its through my squeezebox? its more exciting for some reason? I absolutely agree. The Squeezebox is maybe the best audio purchase I've ever made...certainly it's among the best. Now, if they would just lower the price of the Transporter to about $1,500, I'd buy one of those too... ;0) -- joeriz joeriz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12621 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40955 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
