I'm sure I've seen stats on what tracks I've played the most etc in the past, but for the life of me I can't find it now. Where is (/was) this info? [slim] Analog VU meters?
Hi all I've just bought a SB3 to add to my two old SB1 players. I can't fathom out how to get the analog VU meters to display. Should this be a Now playing option? Or is it a screensaver setting? I'm using SlimServer Version: 6.5b1 - 8713 - Linux - EN - utf8 and the player is on firmware 59, if that makes a difference. dangerous_dom Wrote: Want to keep the cost to a minimum, as it's only for slimserver + increacing my Linux skills. Appart from a large HDD, what would people recommend as the minimum specs? Thanks, Dom. Go for it. I've a 2-ish Ghz P4 here with a cheap 40-odd quid ASUS motherboard, and I expect it to last me a good few years. My server ran just fine with 256Mb of RAM for a year or so, I only increased it as I'm now running more than just slimserver on it, but hey, RAM's cheap these days anyway. So is disk space. I've gone for a mirrored setup using md (i.e. software RAID) as I'm also using the server as backup storage for my windows PCs. It's actually pretty straightforward to set up RAID. I'm using Fedora Core 4 which seems pretty reliable and easy to use to me, but then I've not used anything else. As another poster said, small HD(s) for OS and huge one(s) for music is a good plan. Good luck! If you specify Light or Handheld and Browse New Music, does that perform well? Is the browser on localhost, or on another machine? Hi, I was using fishbone. I tried Light and that's a lot better (but I don't like it!). The browser's on another machine - I've tried a few different PCs around the house and they're all the same. So why is the fishbone skin so much slower? Tried 6.5 and it seemed a bit broken, the web display was corrupted. So I've gone back to the 6.2 nightly for now. I'll have a look at some other skins and perhaps try 6.5 again in a while. -- jonmyatt jonmyatt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21437 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] How can I speed up the web interface?
Hi all It takes about 10-15 seconds for the web interface to appear for me. I've switched to MySQL and that didn't make a difference, although searching is now super fast. My server is a fairly new P4 2.4Ghz with 1Gb RAM running Fedora Core4. It doesn't do anything other than run slimserver. I'm using server version 6.2.2-6245 from a few days ago. My music library is pretty small I'd have said - just over 5000 songs. Looking at the server now, whilst it's streaming music, it's at 98% idle. Also, if I browse music folder the music being played stops momentarily, and the CPU usage shoots up to about 98% busy (slimserver.pl). What steps should I take to get to the bottom of these two problems? Which debugging flags should I be looking at? Thanks for any help... [slim] Re: How can I speed up the web interface?
Hi, no - I'm not using iTunes. The music library is on the hard drive on the linux server. It's a (software) RAID1 array. SB is connected via wireless, but I could connect via a cable for any testing.
