Thank you, I will check some of these later when I get home.
I added it using EAC in the same method I have added thousands of other
songs.
Format is flac.
I am still on SS. I believe the version is 6.5, but I will check when I
get home.
OS is XP Pro SP2

I was able to add a few (after about 9 tries), but the others I have
not had success with.

[slim] HELP SB3 SS what happened now?

2008-09-13 Thread mapatton

Need some help
Recently added some music to my server in the same way as previously
and SlimServer will not pick it up/recognize.
Have tried new and changed, as well as what I normally use, clear and
rescan.

Thoughts?
There is some music I would like to be able to access later today.

Thanks
Mark

upgraded the SB3 firmware to 86. I am using the new SqueezeCenter
server..this is one of my attempts to fix this. Nothing else has issues
with the wireless feed from this unit.

 WPA TRIP is being used.

Wired between computer server and router.

This most likely will not be a SB3 issue, but something else, most
likely in your wireless network.

I suggest this as there are many here that do not have dropouts on
wireless.

You have received some good things to look at so far.

I can say my furthest SB3 is pretty much always at 70-85% wireless
strength and I have yet to experience a dropout; so I do not think that
is the cause of your issues alone.

Curious, is the computer running your server software dedicated, or
also functioning as your normal computer? It might be good to see what
may be taking up some cycles on it. Also, what else may be on your
wireless at the same time?

I have had up to 5 items (2 SB3s and 3 computers) on wireless at the
same time, and didn't have any issues. Now streaming over the internet
was a different story. With 2 softsservers going at work, if my
daughter is serving up things on a sharesite, I have issues then due to
upload bandwidth. Put a stop to that :)

Answer me this: Is it possible to setup a fixed IP for SB and let

I would presume yes, but also how about your server? I had to assign a

 Could this be a factor?

That's what I thought, but she swears that if I am not using it at my

I know what I need to do. I need to replicate the scenario, its just
that we work about 40 miles apart. Will see about loading SS on a

speed of up to 15MB sec (usually runs about 12MB) while the upload
speed is only 768KB (usually runs around 680KB).

You can check this at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Click on one of the cities nearest you and when it has finished it will
give you two numbers one is the download speed the second is the upload
 speed.

If your upload speed is less than 800KB you may have a problem,
especially trying to run two streams.

Also does your wife find that it is a certain time of day that this
happens like shortly after school lets out?

I know in my neighborhood when school lets out and all the children
arrive home the upload and download speeds go down dramatically. This
is caused by the amount of traffic on the system. The more traffic the
 slower everyone gets.

Also what is the streaming bit rate?

I have tried to stream 360kbs tracks and it does not work well even on
the 768 upload because of the overhead data that is required.

So check your speeds and answer a couple other questions and i will try
to help you try to get this sorted out.

 Speed Upload?
 Speed Download?
Time of day it is the worst?
 bit rate of your tracks?

 Schatzy

OK tested at the worst time which is 10-11AM. In addition my daughter
is home, so no knowing what she might be sharing. (This is not normally
the case).

Up = 493 kpbs
Down = 7684
TOD = 10-11AM
bit rate = 192 kbps (for both streams)

which is much lower than what I had it. I had my wife down to this
level with myself still at 320. I had no issues, she had issues. I
lowered mine and it didn;t seem to help hers at all.

Also while testing, I was running 2 SS streasms as well as the SB3 (and
my daughter's computer previously referenced)

Is it possible to do the same in a Squeezebox? I would like to see the

Also: Is it possible to hide or remove the All Songs entry?

I am using SB3 and SqueezeCenter Beta (from last week, January 10th I
 think) on UNIX.

Really didn;t see that anyone addressed your original Q.

I prefer the same myself, and while ripping (or I can perform it post
ripping in tagging) I preface every album with ()

It allows for everything to be chronological.

[slim] SB3 display flickering

2007-10-19 Thread mapatton

Did a search and didn't see any threads related to SB3.

Recently got a SB3 and after a few days the display screen is
flickering. It is doing it appear to vertical bands of pixels. The
location and width of these bands does not appear to be fixed to the
display screen width itself, but appears to be relative to the width of
the information provided. The firmware was updated a few days ago when
installed.

Any thoughts? Bug in the firmware? Odd as it just started a couple days
after the update. Or is it a bum display?

PS: Other than that - Even the wife loves this thing :)

I have been loading up my CDs as flac and using SS for a while now and
just recently got the SB3. Now she sees the reason for the madness.

Many Thanks
