I had a peek at the librespot source code, and it does 'imply'
that album gain information is provided by Spotify. However, it
currently ignores this and always uses the track gain. I guess it would
be possible to add an option though which LMS could tell librespot which
to use based on LMS's track/album/smart setting (although I expect that
smart would be foiled by Spotify Connect).

I played a playlist consisting of recent recordings (which are mastered
to be loud) and 1980s recordings (which were not), both from Spotify and
my local collection. The differences in volume can be clearly heard.

I think perhaps no-one's entirely clear on it.

I think there's a bug here, but here's a description of a couple of
workarounds that worked for me:

I kinda hope so. You can listen to a record using little more
technology than a pin and a paper cone; if doing that becomes our best
option again, some things have gone badly wrong.

Thanks. However, now I find I'm unable to edit pages. I get the

I see that the emailconfirmed group was 'obsoleted back in MediaWiki
version 1.13'
(https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:User_rights#List_of_groups). It
seems that it’s now necessary to configure the '$wgAutopromote setting'
(https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgAutopromote) to get this
working again.

My understanding is that traffic can also be injected onto the network.
An attacker could connect to Logitech Media Server and do any of the bad
things described at
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107165-IMPORTANT-Stop-forwarding-your-LMS-ports-to-the-internet!=879191=1#post879191,
including extracting sensitive data that happens to be on the same
machine that runs the server.

[slim] KRACK attacks

2017-10-16 Thread mavit

A serious security vulnerability in WPA2 was made public today, mainly
affecting Wi-Fi clients. See https://www.krackattacks.com/ for details.
What are the chances of seeing updated Squeezebox firmware to address
this?

Re: [slim] AlienBBC - BBC Radio. Why not core component of SlimCenter?

the current Real Audio ones. When the BBC finally offer something
stable, reliable, SENSIBLE and USEFUL for hardware players and I can
just do a vanilla AlienBBC install knowing that it will all work
perfectly for at least a year without me having to screw with it I'll
 do that too.

But actually, I am beginning to lose faith in the BBC and am starting
to believe that they'll never get it right and that to some degree
they've lost their clear headedness/confidence of old.

Did I mention that even the links under the BBC iPlayer menus don't
 work on my AlienBBC installation?

I hope that the BBCs James Cridland (?) takes some notice of this
 thread.

It's clear from sites such as 'Music'
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/beta/), 'Programmes'
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/) and 'Backstage'
(http://backstage.bbc.co.uk/) that the BBC are putting considerable
effort into reorganising their offerings around open data and, dare I
say it, the semantic web. This new infrastructure enables services
such as iPlayer, and it's the -migration- of radio into iPlayer that's
causing the current problems for AlienBBC, not the new infrastructure
itself.

There might be a few bumps along the way, but I can't see how you can
argue that they're heading in the wrong direction.

The BBC do provide an XML interface and an AlienBBC Addon has been
posted in the same iPlayer thread which uses the XML interface.
Unfortately the XML interface is not as complete as the screen
scraper. The current interim XML interface was developed quickly (I
think mainly for Receiva) - a more complete XML interface is promised.
Currently the XML addon is making use of information posted on the
internet (as BBC have not published the spec on their website) and so
is not an official user of the interface.

Looks like this is solidifying:
