Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Playback comes to iPeng
BTW, this is the easiest way that I've seen to play flac on an ipod/iphone. Given the age of my listening equipment (ears), I never thought it would make a difference to me, but the difference between flac and v2 mp3 is noticeable. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Playback comes to iPeng
Awesome! It just works. (Especially after I remembered to forward port 3483 :-)). Any ideas on the relative battery use of flac vs. mp3 decoding? -- mkt mkt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85502 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPod / iPhone as a receiver
I just bought the Squeeze Mobile app and it seems to work for me mostly as it should. No problems with flac or anything. Several crashes. Switching tracks often crashes it. One oddity/annoyance is that when I restart the app I have to select the SqueezeMobile player each time. Seems like it should be the default. Actually sometimes it resumes playing before you select but you cannot control any thing. It seems that selecting in the Players list does the selecting. I don't know what Squeeze Player in the next window does. It takes quite a while to respond to requests to skip to the next track (buffering?) and there is sometimes a hiccup sound when it goes to the next track. I like the functionality, but definitely not too solid yet. -- mkt mkt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66511 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Don't upgrade to Fedora 9 linux
At least not now. I went from Fedora 7 to 9 and found that Squeezecenter was not happy with the version (5.10) of perl. There are some thread about this but they don't mention Fedora 9 explicitly. I had backed up everything and was able to install Fedora 8 without too much pain. Squeezecenter is happy again and so am I. -- mkt mkt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47748 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Duet pricing
If you think that $399 is a good price for an amazing digital music source with software that just works on all platforms, you've likely already bought at least one SB 3 and are trying to justify buying another, or a Transporter. If you've held off buying your first (or second) SB 3, the ultimate in performance to price ratio, the Duet may not be that attractive. For cheap people like myself, the SB Receiver is very attractive. I hope that it can eventually be configured without the Controller. Do you need the Controller to use the Receiver in wired mode? Receiver plus wireless bridge would be less than a SB 3. I think that a usable (PC-controlled) standalone Receiver would sell like crazy. It would be like an Airport Express that can sync with other SB's. And, again for cheap people like me, I could justify an iTouch more easily than the SB Controller. I'm a happy SB 3 owner looking for a cheap, wireless, multi-room solution. -- mkt mkt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41982 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Receiver with no display - why?
m1abrams;256504 Wrote: Now keep in mind you still can get the version with the screen, course it costs more because well the screens are not cheap. So for me when I get the money, I will have an SB3 in the family room, SB3 in the bedroom, and then just receivers in the kitchen, living room, computer room, upstairs landing. Course I will be buying those extra receivers one at a time so the CFO of the house does not notice. This sounds like a perfect plan to me, but at this point it seems to require buying at least one SB Controller, which makes it harder to slip by the CFO.:-) From the SB Receiver system requirements: Squeezbox Controller required for network setup -- mkt mkt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41966 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
