Re: [slim] Playlist with Chinese filenames?
Bumping this again. I just stumbled on this issue while I tried exporting a playlist as m3u8 from Foobar. Did I miss something ? mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75888 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] No sound in the right channel anymore
Alternatively, I have an old jailbroken iPhone (iOS 4.1) that could be used as a replacement for my Squeezebox. I found an app (Squeezecast) that could do the job, but alas it doesn't work with my iOS version. mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101432 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] No sound in the right channel anymore
Hi there, my good ol' Squeezebox (its carter says M/N C-RH62) seems to hav trouble delivering sound to my right speaker - be it with the RCA a or the jack sockets (actually it does, but it's very faint). Any idea on if there's a way to simply (I'm no electronics specialist, can barely solder) give it a new life ? mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101432 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

annoyingmouse wrote: Probably far too late for the last two replies to this but an archived version of stuffedspacedog's instructions can be found at http://web.archive.org/web/20110505035757/http://www.at-sea.com/FooSQ.html for future reference. Thank you. If this disappears from archive.org too, here are the steps : Instructions for Using Foobar2000 to send music to your Logitech SqueezeBox or Transporter (Windows Only) With thanks to Marae for the original AutoIt script posted on HyrdogenAudio. 1. Download and install the latest Foobar2000 (it should work with versions higher than v0.9x) 2. Download and install AMIP for Foobar2000 : http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/amip/download#amip 3. Download FooSQ from wherever you can find it Note: this is a unicode binary, so it only works in Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. 4. Unzip the FooSQ.exe file and put it somewhere easy to access - you'll need to run this file after you run Foobar2000 in order to control your Logitech devices within Foobar2000. 5. Run Foobar2000, go to File Preferences Display Default User Interface Look for the box that says Window Title Delete whatever is there and replace it with this (exactly): %path%/%playback_time_remaining_seconds%/%ispaused%/%playback_time_seconds%/ Hit the Apply button. Do not hit OK yet. 6. In the same menu, go to Tools AMIP Wrapper Click on Configure AMIP On the right hand side check the box that says Write song info to file. In the box underneath that says File: enter this exactly: C:\nextsong.txt In the box underneath that says Play: enter this exactly: $next(%fn) Hit the OK button, hit OK again in AMIP Wrapper. 7. You're ready to go. Make sure SqueeezeBox server is running. Find where you put FooSQ.exe and run it. 8. Play music. The sound from FooSQ will be a second or so behind the playback on your computer, so you may want to turn off your computer speakers. 9. I've hardcoded a global volume control which will work provided FooSQ is running no matter what application is on your screen. Use the numeric keypad: + key to increase volume - key to decrease volume * key will mute playback (use + key to turn it back on) 10. Enjoy! If you lose the connection between Foobar2000 and FooSQ, just run FooSQ again and restart playback in Foobar2000. mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79575 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Trying to get this script to work, but the how-to page the script author put together (http://www.at-sea.com/FooSQ.html) seems to have vanished, so I'm working blind and so far, no luck. I've installed AMIP, and the script launches Foobar, when I play a song, it gets written to nextsong.txt, so I'm close, but I'm not sure what to do next. If anyone has a copy of the installation instructions, I'd be grateful. I have multiple Squeezebox units, to guidance on choosing a player would also be appreciated. I'm using columnUI, and annoyingmouse's version of the script. Hi; same here. I get a popup that says $m_elt = ^ERROR. I guess the Foobar2K Windows name need to follow a pattern, but I can't know which one. Re: [slim] What if Logitech pulls the plug
Very interesting read, everyone (although i confess I skipped on the DLNA debate :). I'm not a frequent reader of this forum. I actually stumbled upon this thread while trying to know when smart lists would be implemented, confident as I was in the way Logitech (or rather Slimdevices) would keeb LMS at the spearhead of audio diffusion innovation. My trust waned a bit when I read the roadmap at http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Software_Roadmap which is obviously obsolete (last update of this map is in march 2011). I then came to this forum to see how the beta builds were going. Slowly at best it seemed. So I checked staff (at least the couple of forum users I know are staff) activity on the forum. Worrying. Finally, this thread that deals on Logitech pulling the plug. If it was purely theoretical I guess it wouldn't be discussed. Well, I guess I won't listen to smart playlists on my LMS anytime soon. :( mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95603 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

That's an option, especially if the smart lists planned for the v8 on the wiki never comes. Sure, but it would be better to have this fixed. Re: [slim] Artist ABC is read as B, C A
Gosh, this thread is so crowded, I wonder if my voice will be heard... ;) OK, I found the solution, I'll write it here for the record: There's a server option to specify separators for fields with multiple items (Server settings Behaviour Multiple elements in tags). In my case, I separate genres in the genre field with / (eg: Soul / Funk / Jazz), so in this option I entered / (without the quotes). *One must not enter spaces there*, that's what messed my database. After entering / only, and rebuilding the database from scratch (-not- updating), all went back to normal. -- mll mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38455 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Artist ABC is read as B, C A
...in most of the cases. So when my music's Artist field is tagged Nirvana, this gives i A r v n (or the same with commas instead of ampersands in the left pane). I just asked slimserver to rebuild the database. If symptoms persist, I'll post a screenshot to make myself clearer. My music collection is mostly in the Musepack format (APEv2 tags), FWIW. Thanks for any clue on this. -- mll mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38455 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Softsqueeze ---ssh client---ssh server/slimserver
FWIW, I can't get to use the built-in SSH client, but with Putty I can connect just fine if I do some port forwarding as explaine on this thread (except that 'music suffers from heavy stuttering' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38037) in SoftSqueez [but no stuttering if pointing winamp to http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3]). -- mll mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37687 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Heavy stuttering in softsqueeze via SSH
I was about to say I had the same problem, but upon restarting SoftSqueeze for the 10th time, the problem disappeared... wait, it's coming back... and 20 secs later it stutters again. Using Putty, and I set on SoftSqueeze Audio buffer size to 328000. Maybe it's because I didn't install the recommended Java MP3 plugin (which refuses to install for some reason). -- mll mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38037 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Heavy stuttering in softsqueeze via SSH
OK, after a reboot, I could install the Java MP3 plugin. Not really better, but the problem seems transient - I suspect some bandwith bottleneck between the client and the server. On the SSH tab make sure the checkbox for Use SSH Tunnel is checked, and the correct SSH server is selected (should be where you are running SlimServer). Verify the login information is correct. OK, now I can do it, I don't remember what I fixed. As for the stuttering when playing, what file format are you playing? Using stream.mp3 converts everything to mp3 if it isn't already. You may have bandwidth problems if you're trying to stream flac, wav, or alac. Maybe it's a bandwidth priblme, but it occurs even with MP3s... discussion continued on http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38037, I wouldn't like to hijack the thread... :) -- mll mll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37687 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
