[slim] Squeezebox 1 Firmware Update?
I'm running the latest SqueezeCenter for my Infrant/Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ served Squeezebox 1 (pre-ordered, so it would be an early unit) and I don't think I've manually updated firmware in a few years. It just occurred to me that I used to do that by holding down the brightness button each time I upgraded. I tried that again and nothing happened. I looked in the latest SqueezeCenter release notes and see Squeezebox 2 3 firmware numbers, but nothing for the original Squeezebox - or information on how to do firmware updates. The Squeezebox is running version 40 of the firmware. Should I be updating my firmware, and if so, how? I guess I'm just waiting for a download service that will allow me to grab CD quality (or hopefully better) sound and use it on my Squeezebox, Macs, and iPods. I'm not aware of anything. Agreed that you could do the burn and re-rip, but the quality would suffer. Personally, I'm not going below lossless these days anyway. Apple's lossless works great and usually runs around 800kbps. I agree I don't think this is likely...at least in a big way. I would however love to have the ability to use the few files I bought from them on my Squeezebox. I don't suppose anyone had progress since this thread slowed down. With regards to the first comment, I did suggest this as a nice addition a long time ago on the developer and standard SlimDevices lists. I have a couple pairs of wireless Sennheiser headphones that operate through my receiver, and it would be ideal to offer crossfeeding like I have on my headphone amp driving the corded pair I use too. [slim] Filtering Out .m4p Files?
I KNOW someone must have asked this before, but my searches have come up without the threads I'm looking for. I have some .m4p files (iTunes DRM) on my SlimServer (OS X Mac), and I would really like to find a way to filter out those files, so they don't show up on the SqueezeBox (which can't play them). Does anyone have a non-manual suggestion? [slim] Strange New Behavior - Squeezebox Goes Blank
I have a Squeezebox that was running on the last official 5.x build and I noticed the other day that the Squeezebox would just go blank after a bit, even though it's set to show the clock. Thinking the SW was busted, I upgraded to the latest version, and that still remains. Any ideas? [slim] AOL Instant Message Support
I did some searches of the archive and couldn't find anyone mentioning adding AOL instant message (AIM) support to SlimServer/Squeezebox. I would like the ability to send an instant message to my wife at home. The display in my living room would be perfect for this. I could imagine that SlimServer could change the clock (or whatever was being used) to flashing the display on and off to get the attention of someone in the room and then display the scrolling message. I would use this to send messages to her like, I'm leaving the office. As we're expecting our first child, this could also be nice because I might not want to wake my child with a phone ringing, but it would also open the door to some services that the AIM network can provide.
