Re: [slim] After update to 7.0.1 r2448 SBC problems

2008-06-26 Thread Svanur

Thanks for the replies. One question; when I go to the 7.1 folder to
download the 7.1 version. Do I need also to download this Jive
7.1_r2621.bin file? I know I just can install the .exe file on my
server. I guess this .bin file is for the SBC? Do I have to put it on a
SD card or something??

Yes, it's the SBC firmware. SC will usually take care of downloading it -
no need to use an SD card unless you encounter problems updating through
SC.

Ok thanks, and how do I use the SD card in case of problems. How should
it be formatted, NTFS, FAT16/32 ? And when you place it into the SBC,
does it start automatically the update when you turn it on?

[slim] After update to 7.0.1 r2448 SBC problems

2008-06-25 Thread Svanur

After I updated (a while ago) it seems that the SBC is less responsive.
F.e. I put the volume upr or down, the delay is really long. The same
when skipping to another song or navigate thru the menu from the
controller. It also shows (lately) the RED network icon a lot. And
furthermore it is rebooting a lot during play etc.. Did a factory reset
on the controller. It did not reboot good so I had to take out the
battery and put it back in. Then it started to lead me through the
setup. It looked good, I got a connection with the WiFi network, WEP
key etc. worked good. But then it begun again. On the PC, were SC is
installed, nothing special has changed on OS level. The only thing I
can think of that it has to do with the upgrade from 7.0.0 to 7.0.1
r2448

What is wise to do? downgrade to 7.0.0 ? (and were can I get that
version now because 7.0.1 is presented when you go to the download
area) or upgrade to the 7.1 nightly version? How does the downgrade
work? I have the feeling the older version was working better than the
one I'm running now.

Hope you guys/girls can help me!

Grtz,
Svanur.

While 7.1 is still beta (but pretty stable), it has a lot of changes which
address this kind of issues. If you could give it a try, this would be
great.

While 7.1 is still beta I have been running it for a long time.
Works for me.

Actually, I'm testing 7.2 these days, and the developers list is talking
about 7.3

But Beta software may not work. so if you try it, and its worse, be
prepared to drop back to an earlier version. The pre-7.0 versions can't
speak SBC, so they are not really a viable approach
