No interest in BMF. [OT] Using latest 7.9 nightly. I added a new album to my Music folder (the folder entered at LMS > Settings > Basic Settings > Music Folders). Using BMF I browsed to the album and played a track. I can now access this new album by: Home > Album Artists > Home > Albums > Home > Genres > Home Years > All above complete with cover art. I concede that this new album *does not* show under Home > New Music, nor can I search for it. I use BMF when I add new music. Quick and easy way to get the music into the database. I just added a LIVE album and wanted to play it in order. Since I was in BMF it played alphabetically. Of course I wanted to listen to it in the proper order. I use random play almost exclusively. I forgot about this nuance. Quick search of the forums and the answer was there. If a CD has two symphonies I'll tag them each tracks 1 through 4 but the filenames will lead with 01 through 08. It's a PITA but that's what Mp3tag is for! I don't understand why people use BMF either. I have only ever seen one legitimate argument for it and that was a weird use scenario in another way as well - single file for an album with cue sheet. The only slight annoyance I have with viewing artist then album is that there is no way (that I have discovered) of listing albums in true chronological order in the case of prolific artists who release two (or more) albums in the same year. No doubt someone will tell me I am wrong and how. When you play by folder it automatically loads the tags and artwork into the database. Works fine because my filenames all have leading track number as others have mentioned. It can be the only way for some that listen a lot to classical music , tags don't really suffice and Erlands suite of plugins can help this but can be hard to setup properly . As has been discussed in these forums repeatedly, browse by music folder (BMF) is not the best way to use LMS. If your files are properly tagged, every other method to access your music using the built-in database is going to work faster and with generally better results. [slim] Album Songs Out Of Order
Hi All- I can't find a way to correct the order of the songs playing through Squeezebox so that they are in the same track order that was originally download from CD. Using folders containing categories of music (jazz, classical, world, etc.) after selecting the album that i want to play Squeezebox seems to randomly select each track to play out of order (6, 8, 20, 1, etc.). I'm sure that there must be a simple method to correct this but I'm unable to discover it myself. Can anyone out there help me? Either you have selected shuffle mode , so unselect that . Or you use music folder instead of album or artist to browse you music . When browsing folders you are not using the embedded tags in the files like track number . But they are sorted like the OS sorts the folders and files . So folder browse find the files alphabetically so make the filenames so the files sort as you want . For,example,name the tracks like 01-track or 001-track . That's the only thing I can think of except shuffle mode . And btw are the file tags in good order it migth confuse LMS if they are not , the tags are used for presentation in the UI even they are not used for sorting when folder browsing so if the track contains a faulty track number tag .
