As of tonight I'm receiving a 401 error code on every aspect of the Slacker app. I realize that they changed to live X live a few weeks ago and I'm thinking that this probably has something to do with it. Slacker is nonfunctional on my SBs today. I hope that's not permanent. I have a pair premium subscription. I like Slacker over other programs (Pandora) because you can stack different genres and automatically scroll through many different types of music( classical, country,pop,etc.). Sad that Slacker may be gone from SBs. The nice thing about Slacker that I have yet to see really replicated is that the stations I enjoyed would often have a good mix of current and classic music of that genre (for me that is indie rock). The closest I have seen to that is creating a Pandora station of current and classic artists. Supposedly the Slacker stations are programmed by people as opposed to algorithms. Hello Glad I'm not the only one then, I've used Slacker ever since I got my first Touch back about six years ago ( it has since been joined by another touch and three Raspberry Pis). I really liked the service and it's ease of use so I got a subscription. Lately it has been stopping a lot and it's amazing how frustrating that can be. Not knowing the cause I contacted Slacker ( no help) reloaded LMS, removed the app, added it again and various other bits of black magic. Really very sad it has become almost unusable. If its going to be a dead duck what would folks suggest as the next best option ? TBH quite honest, I was wondering, too... I recently looked in to our implementation of Slacker Radio, and it made me shudder... It's one of the first I did, and their feature set has grown considerably. It started out as a pure custom radio, MOD features got tacked on, but the API is awful, as it wasn't designed with most of those features in mind. They told me they were about to publish a completely new API. I use Slacker a lot and have noticed similar behavior. I attributed a lot of it to a flaky Squeezebox radio that I have but it sounds like the problem may also lie with Slacker. The cover art consistently either doesn't show up or only shows for one or two songs. I have also had the issue where it "cannot fetch the next song" and will stop playing. I have also had it stop in the middle of a song but that is a more rare occurrence. I am not a paid subscriber but it sounds like that wouldn't make too much of a difference. [slim] Anyone still using Slacker Radio?
Yesterday I decided to subscribe to the ad-free Slacker Radio Plus. It's been really flaky. The music keeps stopping mid-song and I have to skip track to get it playing again. Sometimes that works but sometimes I have to change stations. Now I can't get it to play anything. The errors I keep seeing are 403 or 500. I restarted the server and now it is playing. Will see how long it lasts this time. Also not getting cover art when it does play. I noticed they don't even mention squeezebox on their site any longer. Is this no longer a good option for Squeezebox?
