I usually stick my controller in the cradle when I go to bed and pull it out when I eat breakfast. It lasts all day and usually wants a charge before bed. I suspect that it won't last as long during a party environment, but it should last. -- ik632 ik632's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13780 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46040 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Battery life - not good..
I am having the same problem with a new Duet. Could it be a bad battery? Is there a place to set the suspend mode timing that may have gotten inadvertently changed with the firmware update? If I can't figure this out it is going back to logitech, as the whole purpose for my purchase was to have the remote laying around the house for quick use, without having to go into the room with the stereo equipment. -- IPGuy IPGuy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=961 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46040 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

What release hgave you installed ? Recently there were a few releases where battery saving seem to have been disabled but after a recent update - power saving is operational again. Check Settings/Advanced/Factory Test/Power Management Make sure Suspend Enabled - checked Suspend Wake - unchecked Wireless Power Save - Checked. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46040 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

No, just one normal regular battery. when i was on the beta test program we only ever got a few hours, even when it was just lying still not being used. After they added the power management to it it now will last a few days out of the cradle if just lying there not being used. After an certain time, the Wifi (the main battery drain) and screen are turned off, CPU is also throttled down too. Sounds to me like your Controller is not going into one of the sleep/suspend modes - when you pick it up, you should not have to press anything - but will see a 'please wait' screen while it wakes up and reconnects. If this capability ever comes to fruition, I would hope that it would support the seamless sync/download of tracks from SqueezeCenter to the controller's memory card (expandable), and then when playing music it would play directly off the card with the wireless off. The ability to disable wireless should increase battery life dramatically. Granted, iPods are a much cheaper and simpler alternative to this, but I would not buy an iPod simply for this purpose because I rarely use it. This would be a neat value-add for me. Mine Controller does the same and I think this is the correct behavior. I did a sort of a test today. The battery lasted very close to 12 hours after I tooked it out of the cradle. I guess I used the controller about 10-15 minutes in total over the whole day. Max. Did 3 or 4 wake-ups after had been not used for some time. Did 1 firmware upgrade - r2178. I updated it just one hour or two before it died. I do not know which mode or state it was in then. I just saw the display light up and it said low battery and then dark, dead. Re: [slim] Battery life - not good..
Ben, i had to reset some options after 2178, like player sleep mode, but i also had done a factory reset. i would recheck all the settings, (all the power ones like screen saver etc) are not all in the same place. also, the card idea is cool, and i agree the SBC should give you the option to turn off parts of it, like wireless, you aren't using at the moment... however, i'm hoping we get at least an hour out of it as a headphone / wireless player. (mow the grass + net radio?) i was expecting two or three, but that now seems unlikely. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / Jive - w/SC 7.0.1beta - Win XP Pro SP2 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46040 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

If mine is lying about, I get about 4 days before needing to cradle it. If I am picking it up and using it often, it goes 2 sometimes 2 and a half days. Three questions: Did you play with it when you first received it or did you charge it for over 8 hours before using it? Do you have a strong or weak WIFI signal? Do you make sure you hear a beep when you place it in the cradle? Check your controller settings and select the shortest times and see what happens. I hear other people talking about 20 and 30-second wake-up times. Is this a guess or actually timed? Most of the time my SBC is up and running in 5 to 7 seconds. Once after being gone for two days, it took about 12 seconds to wake up. I wonder if WIFI signal strength has anything to do with the different times people are reporting for wake up or if it just seems that long because others are not actually timing it. -- iPhone iPhone Last.FM http://www.lastfm.com/user/mePhone Media Room: Transporter, Vandersteen Quatro Signature, Ayre MX-R Mono Blocks, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, VCC-5 Reference Center Channel, four VSM-1 Signatures, Runco 710, RAM Oppo DV970HD, VeraStarr 6.4SE Living Room: SqueezeBox Duet, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold Bedroom: Squeezebox 3, Thiel 2.3, NAD C370 iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46040 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
