I still play reels, too! Even more obscure, I use analog quadraphonic decoders and am disturbed at the disappearance of multichannel analog inputs on most new equipment. atrocity's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16009 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104214 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Cable Connection Advice
I'm running a squeezebox touch connected to a Sony receiver using an analogue cable. Both the Touch and receiver have digital and optical connections. Will I notice the difference in sound if I change from analogue cable to digital/optical cable? As a reference I've been listening to the only flac files I have (Beatles remastered set) and to my amateur ear it sounds pretty good with analogue connection. Also I'm not a huge audiophile ...I never realised that one of my speakers was out of phase until I ran the automated setup in the receiver! Any advice greatly appreciated. kouta's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59399 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104214 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Cable Connection Advice
All of the SBT outlets are live simultaneously so it's easy to test and see which sounds better. It largely depends on the quality of the receiver. The SBTs DAC is pretty good in its own right. *Vortexbox LMS 7.8 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* - iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 - Onkyo TS606 connected Digitally - Celestion Ditton F20s - and connected Analogue for Zone 2 - Sony TA FE 320 - Sennheiser RS 130 *Office* - SB3 - Sony TA FE320 - Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* - SB Boom *Kitchen* - UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch - Topping TP21 - AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) - Topping TP20 - Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104214 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yes it's the latest thing to release on cassette again :) it's a bit cute that electronica artist does it . I had a half decent Alpine not thier best but decent . I've probably had the only calibrated one ever, my dad took it to the technicians at the pulic service radio (SR Sveriges Radio ) where he worked at the time and had them tune it for me with calibrations tapes and whatnot's corect azimuth for the tape head etc. I think my VU meters was actually correct ,they ar just a ligth show on most consumer machines :) Realy what a horrible end user format less than 1% of the users could record corretly on them . What about double speed dual cassete decks for copies thats hifi :) (or not so much ) . More OT trivia in the end it's life the actual tapes had better performance than most players , not many could use the best metal tapes potential . the heads saturated before the tape in the treble Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
