[slim] Can somebody answer this`:-)

2009-08-21 Thread Ollie Meyers

Hi all

I'm considering buying a squeezebox Duet. Seems like a great peace of
equipment.

The thing is, I don't want to stream my music from my computer, since I
don't want it running 24-7.
I then found out you can use mp3tunes/mp3 Locker. But then I would have
to upgrade to a premium account to fit all my music on there.

So my qustion is... Can I put all my music on my own domain or Ftp or
whatever it is called. I mean, I have my own website with plenty of
space. Is there a way to upload my files there, and have Squeezebox
stram it from that location?

I hope some of you know the answer to this question.

Hope to hear from you.

/Ollie

The answer is no, music files need to be streamed to the players by a
SqeeezeCenter running on a host computer.

I don't want to stream my music from my computer, since I don't want
it running 24-7

Wake-On-LAN (WOL) is a good solution which has been discussed on these
forums.

Hey Ollie

If you have your own host and can control the Firewall, in theory yes.

You would have to have Squeezecenter running on the server and firewall
rules to only allow you to connect. You would also have to have a fixed
IP at home.

All the best
