Re: [slim] Elton John concert steaming in FLAC !!!!
Fozzy- Yes, the voice. I don't know anything about proximity effect other than to understand you're saying it's the equipment? Plenty of his contemporaries have long since lost their singing voices, I thought maybe it was a voice change thing going on. No need for me to split it, I didn't like it enough to want to keep it, but thanks anyway for sharing the info you have. Norderney= I played it using Foobar. I presume if a program can play a file it should be able to convert it too? I'm not a technical type, so maybe that's a dumb assumption. But Foobar has a pretty extensive file conversion capability, including into FLAC, so give it a try. -- Goodsounds Goodsounds's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83551 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I couldn't possibly say if that's how Elton likes to sound but I'd hazard a guess the muddiness is due to proximity effect. If, like me you like to split something like this into songs in such a way that if played in sequence you still get the complete concert I make the split points as follows: Part 1 4:42.300 5:35.400 10:31.200 15:36.500 Part 2 6:32.450 11:30.000 18:23.450 -- Fozzy Fozzy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83551 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

No, as the files are in OggFLAC format which we don't support. This is not "streaming" either, just plain old file downloads. You can certainly download them and then convert them to normal FLAC though. http://absoluteradio.co.uk.audio4.uk.ipercast.net/absoluteradio.co.uk/elton1.oga http://absoluteradio.co.uk.audio4.uk.ipercast.net/absoluteradio.co.uk/elton2.oga -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83551 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Elton John concert steaming in FLAC !!!!
Absolute Radio here in the UK are making an Elton John concert available to stream in either MP3 OR FLAC formats. This must be a first for a UK radio station. Not sure if it is possible to stream the FLAC feed through my Transporter? Says something about you will need to innstall VLC Player. http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/artists/Elton-John/article/3875-Exclusive+Elton+John+gig+with+Absolute+Radio -- norderney Transporter (Black) - Arcam A85 Amp - B&W CDM1NT Speakers - Yamaha CDRHD1500 Recorder http://www.last.fm/user/norderney1962 norderney's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83551 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
